As I understand it, even an 07 even has to have a LE letter requesting it.

We got to handle an 18 at the Armorer's class ... no, we didn't get to shoot it. The instructor said the worst part about shooting one - is pulling the trigger then realizing the mag is empty - empty mag let down syndrome he called it.

They are surprisingly controllable. I have a few hundred rounds thru one. If legally obtainable I'd own 2

I'll own a few if we are ever liberated and made to be a free country again. Heck, I'd be happy with an auto sear for my 19.

Someone on Day Three at TacCon at DARC last month had one and was letting various people shoot it. They must've spit out 400 rounds in just a couple of minutes. They posted video on their Facebook page and it did look quite controllable. Not sure what the point of such a gun is (or any full auto that's not belt fed, for that matter), but I guess it was kinda cool.

Psychological effect to make the enemy take cover.

Pretty sure the reason the STG43 was effective was that the sound of machine guns advancing toward you generally makes you take cover rather than returning fire.

And then 3 seconds later the person is reloading. Like I said, in a non-belt fed weapon (or something with a massive drum mag or the like), I don't really get it. Especially a pistol.

Agreed, having to reload every minute could be an disadvantage.
