    So, I have a suppressed Sub 2K

My standard 124gr fmj load is averaging about 1160fps in the Sub2K
This shoots 1047fps in the G19

I wanted to shoot my Powder Coated Cast 124gr bullets
I tried a series of loads with Universal Clays (clean powder) and down to 3.8gr it was still 1169fps with my Powder coated Cast.

I guess I have to keep going lower. I did not really look at accuracy when I was shooting it.
My goal is clean burning , sub sonic, but still reasonably accurate (hit 12" gong at 100 yards).

I can switch to Unique or W231 if needed.

    EDIT: G19, not G17

I've mentioned a few times in other threads, Clays (not Universal) will clean burn sub 124gr 9s in PCC easily. Even the max load won't break 1100 in a PCC 8-10" barrel.

We use that load in several Ruger PC chargers with Octane cans

Yes and took that advice for my 38 loads in a revolver which worked really well for me. Trying to keep the Clays for shotgun as I did not have a load with Universal and my wads.
I will use it if it comes to it though.

Try 3.8 to 4.0 WW 231 and see how that works for you. That should keep down around 1000 FPS.

This, 3gr of Clays or titewad under a 124-125gr is subsonic out of everything, 850-1000FPS and 30K psi depending on barrel length. The really small volume of fast powder gets a decent pressure to seal the chamber and function well, burns in shorter barrels and is pretty quiet out of a can. Loading down a slower powder will give a lower peak pressure, more residual pressure, so more port pop, brass doesn't seal as well, and often times accuracy goes to crap when loaded that slow.

Have you looked at the 165 gr bullets from X-Treme? They are plated and are incredibly quiet suppressed.

    I'm using a 147gr Berry's Plated RN with 3.3gr of Titegroup / SPP / 1.160" OAL.

I am at about 1025-1050 out of an AR-9 10.5" barrel.

I may have to go heavier if I don't get the results I want.
however since I powder coat cast my own, I'll be stubborn to try what I have first. I will say this, when I jumped to heavy and slow in my 300BO, I got some great results. I however was still using powder coated cast in that case.

The Powder coat Cast is just barely subsonic right now in the G19 suppressed and safe w/o ear protection, just need to get the Sub 2K dialed in.

would a faster powder be any advantage here where its not going to keep accelerating down the longer 16" barrel?
Looking at a burn rate chart, Universal is up there with Unique
Clays (which was one suggested) and Red Dot are faster powders.
How is Red dot on cleanliness?

I can work up some loads of both and see I guess.
It will be a curious experiment cause I already have comparisons of a G19 barrel and the Sub2K barrel on the same ammo. and Yes, I made a mistake above, I was shooting a G19 barrel and not a G17

Red Dot is pretty fast which makes it a good choice when you want to shoot reduced loads in large cartridges. I have used it in .45 acp, .44 spl, .44 Mag, and 45 Colt. Since you want to use it as a reduced load in the 9mm (subsonic) it will probably work although you probably will get carbon residue if you use light bullets. I found that it likes a heavy bullet pull to burn clean.

So, I loaded up 3.0, 3.1 and 3.2gr of Universal and the 147gr FMJ from Xtreme.
Velocity average out of the Sub2K were 870,903, and 929fps.
3.3gr is the Hodgdon max load (4" barrel) so I'll see about running 3.1 for the target and then try this suppressed.
I was getting reasonable groups w/ a red dot from the bench @ 25 yards of about 2" or less.

I"m going to load up a batch, pull the booster off the Suppressor and run it on the Sub2K with these loads in the next couple of days (I hope).
Will save some for the pistol too.
