I just don't want one, no other reason but my preference.
I can understand the OPs preference, but I had the opposite issue...tubular mags are prohibited for Boy Scout use. We bought a really nice Springfield bolt action with a tube mag and could not use it for Scouts, no semis either.

My wife and I both have Ruger American Rimfires we use teaching Scouts.

Remington 552. I bought my first one in '57 (still have it) and have several others. Still being made, although the new ones are a bit pricey. Worth every penny.

Looking for a tube fed 22 and it seems all I'm finding is a Marlin 60, does anybody else builds a tube fed 22 or is the Marlin my only option for buying new? Any experience with the new Marlin 60's?

Whatever you do, stay away from the Remington 550 series with the aluminum receivers. If you shoot them alot, the feed area of the receiver wears and you start getting miss feeds.

I have had several over the years and never found a fix for this.

Now....... I have in my safe a:
HIGH STANDARD, "Sport King", Model A102, which was part of a deal on another Shotgun. I have never fired it, seems to be OK,
but I speak with no experience with this .22. It's clean and in fair shape for what I believe is a C&R......TUBE FED
Value of it? Who knows? But make an offer, and I'll consider it. Definitely will not break your bank!

I looked locally for a decent used one but couldn't find one for a price that was worth over looking the Marlin for $150 so I went with the Marlin. It will remain scopeless, no need in making it anything more that what it already is.;)

Too bad I wasn't closer or I'd make you an offer but with the travel distance it kind of takes away from a good deal when you start adding gas and time to the price.

Yea understand.......but you were in the ballpark.......
Not sure if it is a C&R, maybe not since there is NO serial number, or at least I have not been able to find one.....and I think they were made into 1971.
Looks very much like you one you got...

Don't sell your Model 60 short. They are ( well before RemLin days ) very accurate guns with the micro groove rifling. The out of the box Ruger 10/22 couldn't hold a candle to a stock Model 60 at 50 yards.

I feel that they are also well balance rifles and are reasonably priced.

    Makes sense to me :)

I say good choice. I have a Marlin 60 that I got 20+ years ago and love it. One of the best things about it is it shoots anything I put in it with zero issues, unlike my 795 that is rather finnicky

The Rem 550 does have that reputation in some quarters, but it is undeserved. The remedy is fairly simple. That's how I managed to pick up one for each of my boys- people get frustrated and are willing to sell cheap! With less than an hours work, I have a reliable, shoots any .22 load, squirrel and varmit killing machine.

Don't forget the Browning BL-22 levergun either although it is not cheap. I use mine mainly for varmint control as my first 2 groundhogs this year were taken with the Browning firing 40g HP Velocitors.
