    Resurrecting this thread since I just picked a used one of these up from a local guy. He included the one 25-round magazine and some upgrades for $150.

    I installed it in my 3-gun rifle for a couple of reasons. One, I need more practice with the rifle, and two, I need another Steel Challenge gun until I get my 9mm AR fixed. My 3-gun rifle has an adjustable gas block, so I will close it off when I remember where I put the Allen key for it. After I picked it up, I went through three magazines using a mix of CCI and Federal ammunition at Elite Shooting Academy. I had one failure to fire with one CCI round. Otherwise, pretty good. Virtually no recoil. I swapped out the conversion bolt and put the original back in and shot three rounds of .223 to clean it out. I'm going to be ordering three more magazines from CMMG unless someone can recommend another magazine that will work with it.

    Do those work with this kit? The last thing I need right now is "it might work".

    They absolutely work, I use them with a Tac-Sol upper and two CMMG dedicated bolt uppers. The only difference between my bolt and yours is your chamber adapter vs my chamber collar. As long as you don't use the better-mag adapter they're perfect (the better mag adapter allows for M&P15-22 mags to be used). Give me a few minutes to unpack from work and I'll send a comparison picture.

    I have one of these CMMG conversion kits (Bolt and Mag) that I bought in PA before the 2013 Law. I never installed it into my AR and now am not sure if I can sell it on "Gunbroker" with the stipulation of NOT FOR SALE IN MARYLAND OR WHERE PROHIBITED because of the 25 round .22lr mag. ? Being that I live in Maryland can I do this legally?

    Ha, I ended up buying 6 of them for $8.99. Pro tip, run your magazines full through the rifle before you enter a Steel Challenge match. The bolt worked fine, some of the magazines needed to be full to be reliable. When I have a combined score of 30.86 on Stage 4, feeding failures are a big part of that.

    CMMG mags work best I have found. The newer ones are designed to hold bolt open on after last round. Very reliable in my opinion.

    Check with Hog Sniper at High Rock Outfitters. He has great prices on mags.

    The ones I picked up look exactly like the one that came with the kit. They hold the bolt open on the last round. I picked up two boxes of Federal 550 and two boxes of CCIs at Walmart yesterday.

    You can sell the conversion kit in MD. You cannot sell the mags in state.

    If you were to happen to run into the buyer outside MD....

    Or take them to a gun show and sell them. Outside MD.

    True. FYI Hog Sniper at High Rock Outfitters is in Hanover, PA. Short ride through the country and like I said before, he has great prices and is easy to work with.

    Bought a CMMG kit (25 round mag and BCG) just before 2013 law. Never installed it in my AR and plan to take it to the York show to sell or trade.

    I was recently looking at the CMMG .22lr conversion kit. I already have the 15-22 (great rifle btw), and have a couple others, and was looking at the CMMG kit as a back up, and due to it saving space over another rifle and a whole upper. Question;

    I have read about the leading issues, and gas port clogging. That said, if I use only copper plated bullets in it, not the lead bullets with wax coating, would it prevent the leading and clogging? Not sure how thick the copper coating is on .22lr rounds and how bad the rifling chews them up. Thx

    I have thousands of rounds through my AR 15's of all types. The only leading I experience is on the tail of the bolt which is easy to take off with a wire wheel. I have never seen a gas tube blocked with lead.

    I shot mine today. I use it in any .223 upper that I have and have not had any problems with the unit. If you use lower powered ammo, you will have problems but if you use CCI Minimag, Win 333/555 or Federal 510 you should be alright. Whenever you can, use 40 gn bullets as they seem to work better than the 36 grain stuff.
