Cleaning out my old projects, I found a barreled Erfurt 1916 action. it is missing the bolt and bolt release lever. it is in an old sporter stock. the original machined trigger guard is attached but is missing the cover and ammo compartment spring. The front and rear sights are original. I picked it up years ago in a garage sale with a bunch of other projects.

I know very little about the Erfurt. It looks like it was a very nice little WWI carbine. Is it worth the effort to try and put it back together?

I would. Do a little parts scrounging and you may have a decent shooter or slick sporter for hunting.

Sourcing the parts with fitting however may prove to be more costly than you would like to get it back into shape.
If you could score a parts rifle, you would non the less have an interesting and rewarding project.
If you're not interested in doing anything with it, let me know. I like to tinker with unwanted/parts deficient rifles.

Thnx for reply. I have an old mauser stock and a box of WWI and WWII fittings. I do not have an original bolt, or floorplate. I will probably keep staring at it a little longer unless I find another more interesting project.
