I've had a fork AND knife in and through my hand once.
Believe it or not, it really didn't hurt very much, even when I pulled them back out.

Used to have a big, hungry brother who would wolf down his food and go for mine. He got stabbed with my fork plenty.
Took years after he was gone to relax from the defensive stance I had at the table... But I could reflexively regress quickly
