Went with my 10 year old Daughter for WV youth hunt today. Her 1st deer ever, she bagged a nice doe. She made a perfect heart/lung shot at 100 yards with a .300Blk loaded with 110gr Lehigh Controlled Chaos. Ran about 75 yards and piled up. Awesome Day, she was soo excited.

That is great news. Please tell her congratulations for me. She should be very proud of the shot. That must have been very satisfying to be there for that shot.

You'll talk more about this hunt than anything you've ever done. I know I do with my kids' kills.

I will pass it on to her. It definitely makes for a proud papa. A good friend of mine helped set up the hunt for her and it worked out great. Neither of us were hunting, it was all for her and it was one of my funnest hunts for both of us. My daughter was on her phone texting friends almost as quickly a I was, LOL.

After seeing a buck last night (that I couldn't get a shot at) I decided to pull my trail cam card. Found these. Needless to say I will be out plenty the next few weeks.

    You got a Casanova!

He only comes out at night ;)

I just need him to trip up once and show up when I'm there! He was close last night but the doe started leading him the opposite direction. I figure there will be some other chances soon enough. Planning on getting out there everyday after work for the next few weeks until he shows up early for his rendezvous.

The moon phases will be getting brighter the next couple of weeks, since we are coming off of a new moon.

Friday evening I took this doe. Sunday morning I got another doe on crop damage but forgot to snap a pic.

Congrats to everybody who’s got one so far!

Been seeing a lot of Does come into the back yard the past few weeks. I was watching them from my back porch last night and saw a nice 8-Point walk out with them right below where my tree stand is. Just my luck that he comes out when I’m not actually in the tree waiting.

I’m going to sit out later today. Hopefully I’ll be able to stick him with my bow.

I never get tired of seeing antlers! All are unique and trophies regardless of size

So I feel like I know the answer, but the antlerless only early ML season, if archery hunting you can take a buck (which counts towards your archery limit)...yes?

I know the language says any does taken during the antlerless split, if taken with a bow counts towards your ML doe limit.

Doesn’t matter for me as I couldn’t get out this week and I took a spike opening weekend of archery and no does so far, but thought I’d check for future years.
