It has come to my attention that several different caliber slides will fit a Glock 17 lower receiver. Which slides will fit the G-17 lower?

From my limited experience w/ Glock 17 3rd gen, uppers from G17L,G22,G24,G34,G35 will fit. Don't know about G31 since I have never owned one.

Does anyone know what the best source is for buying slides? I'd like a 17 slide for my 34.
According to this page Your 17 receiver can host G17,17L,34 uppers. I have no idea if that is indeed correct but it is on the internet so it MUST be true

Ok, let me rephrase that....... where can I get a slide to fit a second generation Glock 17 frame....... any caliber?

Ok, it looks like you can make a third generation Glock 17 frame shoot .40 and .357 sig and 9mm with one of these slides here:

But I still haven't found a slide to fit my second gen G-17.

Does anybody know what the internal differences are between a second generation and a third generation Glock frame that would keep a third generation slide from fitting a second generation frame?
