Lobby Day continues to pay off. All the gun-control bills are now dead for this year.

The following three pro-rights bills have passed both the House and Senate and are headed to the Governor's desk for his signature or veto:

HB1432, Delegate Lee Ware, legalizes switchblades and allows for concealed carry of them in certain cases.

HB 1582, Delegate Jeffrey Campbell, allows active duty or honorably discharged military members who are over 18 and under 21 years old to apply for a CHP. This would also fix the issue with Georgia not honoring our CHPs.

HB 1849, Delegate Gilbert, allows Circuit Court Clerks to laminate or create plastic CHPs.

There are another 15 pro-rights bills still working through the system in both houses.

We suffered one loss: SB 1441, Senator Glen Sturtevant, would have allowed gun owners to vote absentee if their poling place bans guns. This bill was put in for VCDL and we thank the Senator for doing so. We will look at other ways to skin that cat next year.

    those are CHIP's.

Betcha can't eat just one ?

Sorry ... But on a more serious note ...

While we here in the PRofMD seem to be doing a much better job of combating anti-gun legislation, VCDL has its 'chit' together, and I don't mean how they attack their (dis)loyal opponents misguided bills. I would venture a guess that when it comes to unity of effort against McAwful and company, the ENTIRE gun community in VA is behind VCDL's efforts as opposed to looking out for their own parochial interests.

Maryland Hunting Coalition are you paying attention ?

I agree. I follow VA 2A issues as closely as I can and never sensed an us vs them attitude between hunters and other groups.

Sometimes we're our own worst enemy.

we could accomplish a lot if we weren't so fractured as a large political group.

    Just received

    URGENT URGENT URGENT

As you might recall, SB 1023, introduced by Senator Stuart, cleared the Senate by a 28 to 12 vote last week, which is a veto-proof majority. SB 1023 protects Virginia's CHP holders by prohibiting the Virginia State Police from sharing a person's CHP status with any state that does not honor our CHPs. This bill can keep even an unarmed Virginia CHP holder in a state like Maryland from being frisked and harassed merely because they have a CHP.

We need strong BI-PARTISAN support in the House for this measure so we can override a veto there, if necessary. So whether your Delegate is pro-gun OR ANTI-GUN, we need you to do your part, ESPECIALLY if your Delegate is a DEMOCRAT!

WE NEED **ALL** OF YOU TO SEND THE MESSAGE BELOW TO YOUR DELEGATE TO 1) DRUM UP SUPPORT AND 2) TO EDUCATE THE DELEGATES ON THE NEW FOURTH CIRCUIT RULING.

Like in the Senate, this is one bill that many Delegates who are normally not good on guns, might well support. It is more about privacy than it is guns!
