Montgomery County is building a pedestrian bridge to cross a small creek along Beach Drive in Kensington. This is at the intersection of Beach Drive and Kensington Parkway. There is already a 2 lane road bridge with a 6’ sidewalk across that creek. The new pedestrian bridge is 40’ away from the road bridge. The new pedestrian bridge and the existing 6’ sidewalk come out at the same place where it crosses Kensington Parkway. They have been working on this project for months and just put the bridge in last week. What a waste of $$$$$$!

I don't know. This just doesn't have the same pizzazz as a drunken nocturnal Kensington traffic sh!tpost by Marko. Those were the days.

That's a pretty species-ist thing to say. Why did you assume it's for pedestrians? Maybe it's for deer, so they don't have to walk so close to the road and risk automotive-violence when crossing the creek.

Safety from drive-by shootings... the extra 40ft is a tough bridge to cross when shooting moving...:innocent0

When $ is tight and you cannot build large road projects -
stick to sidewalks and shared use paths!
Make it look like your doing something-------important.

Social distancing! Wouldn't want the healthy path users to get covid from the sick motorists not wearing masks!!!! Cant be too safe!

We love our Government overlords. They think of everything.

Nothing's going to beat the bridge over Viers Mill near Aspen Hill Road for a waste of money. That giant monstrosity was completely unnecessary.

Another instance of MOCO wasting money is the closing off a lane of traffic on Middlebrook Rd for the two blocks next to Seneca Valley High school to convert it into a two-way bicycle lane. THAT NO-ONE USES! Now when the bus stops to pick up passengers there’s only one lane getting by.

Did that where Arcola hits University. Made the right turn lane a bicycle lane (cluster f***) and took one lane of University away all the way to Amherst Ave. One lane on each side of University. Brilliant I tell ya.

Yeah... responding down University is a PITA at varying times of day - no one knows where to go to yield to emergency vehicles, so they just slam on their brakes in their lane.
