Yo Colt Homies, I have all the parts to put together a Colt M4A1 SOCOM 14.5 in. barrel rifle. The Colt lower was purchased complete and ready to go. I need the complete upper built, including the barrel installed with the flash hider pinned and welded. I was going to go the AR pistol route, but with the ATF and pistol brace drama, I'm out! I would love to do this myself, but that means buying more tools and head space gauges, etc. I'm done! Thanks for your help, Redbean

Brownell's has some on sale...check for whether they're MD legal.

It is advertised as an M4 contour barrel.

So not MD legal on a rifle with a pinned and welded flash suppressor.

    But OK on an SBR.

    Found this elsewhere:

    Commercial/semi-auto models:

    (Model number: specs--commercial name)

    6520: 16" lightweight barrel, A2 upper--"AR-15A-2 Gov't Carbine"
    6721: 16" 1/9 HBAR, flattop upper--"AR-15A-3 Tactical Carbine"
    6920: 16" M4 barrel, flattop--"Law Enforcement Carbine," "Sporter M4," "M4 Carbine"
    6920SOCOM: 16" M4A1 HB barrel (no M203 flats), flattop--"M4A1 Carbine"
    6921: 14.5" M4 barrel, flattop--"M4 LE," "M4 Carbine"
    6921HBPW: 14.5" M4A1 HB barrel, pinned muzzle device, flattop--"M4 Carbine," "M4A1 Carbine"
    6922: 16" M4 barrel, 1/9 twist, flattop--"Law Enforcement Carbine"
    6933: 11.5" lightweight barrel, flattop--"M4 LE," "M4 Carbine," "M4 Commando"
    6720: 16" lightweight barrel, flattop--"AR-15A-4 Lightweight Carbine"

6940: 16" M4 barrel, folding front sight, monolithic upper--"Law Enforcement Carbine," "M4 Carbine"
    6944: 14.5" M4 barrel, folding front sight, monolithic upper--N/A
6945/6: 10.3" barrel, folding front sight, monolithic upper--N/A
6940P: 16" M4A1 HB, folding front sight, monolithic upper--"Piston Carbine"

    Select Fire:

    0723 (S-1-F)/0725 (S-1-3): 14.5" barrels (various), A2/FS upper--"M16A2"
    0727 ("")/0729 (""): 14.5" barrels (various), A2 upper--"M16A2"
    0733 ("")/0735 (""): 11.5" lightweight barrel, A2 or A2/FS upper--"M16A2," "Commando"
    0777 ("")/0779 (""): 14.5" barrels (various), A2 upper or A2/FS upper--"M4/M16A2E"
    0977 ("")/0979 (""): 14.5" M4 barrel, flattop--"M4 Carbine"
    0933 ("")/0935 (""): 11.5" lightweight barrel, flattop--"M4 Carbine," "M4 Commando"

    0921 (S-1-F): 14.5" M4 barrel, flattop--"M4A1 Carbine" *U.S. Gov't Property Model
    0921HB (S-1-F): 14.5" M4A1 HB, flattop--"M4A1 Carbine" *U.S. Gov't Property Model
    0923 (S-1-F): 14.5" M4A1 HB, folding front sight, monolithic upper--"Advanced Piston Carbine"/"APC"

*"CK" suffixes usually imply "Conversion Kits," i.e., sold as upper assemblies rather than complete rifles, e.g., a 6921CK is a 6921 upper assembly

** "SP" suffixes usually imply "Special Purpose" guns, and can be quite different from their original model numbers, e.g., the 6921SP was a SAW special-order carbine, which was a 10" (not 10.5" or 10.3") barreled carbine

Not sure what you mean, although the OP has edited his post.

But a SOCOM contour barrel is definitely marketed as heavy profile by Colt.

I was replying to the Brownell's upper.

That is not a SOCOM, it is 6921, which is M4 contour.

Fixed it to make it more clear.
