First, I have tremendous respect for the media who do their jobs and tell it like it is.
This part is hard to write and meant to in no way be disrespectful to those whose lives were tragically ended on June 29, 2018. An infamous day.
These fine people at the Capital Newspaper were honored as candidates for Time Magazine Person of the Year. They may have been deserving. But they would never have been considered were it not for the politics of the event. They work for a local newspaper belonging to the Baltimore Sun news organization. They had been threatened numerous times by the individual who tragically took their lives because of their professional activities. The newspaper chose not to press charges against this individual despite multiple threats over a period of time.
These people did not deserve to have their lives ended. They did not deserve what the criminal pushed upon them that day. They deserved the full protection of the law. Their employer, to avoid angering the alleged shooter, did not press charges which might have resulted in the individual being evaluated, or held for evaluation.
These people are actually "Victims of the Year". They were let down by their employer, and their legislators. A single person with a concealed carry permit could have made the criminal rethink his entire plan. He could have been wounded or killed. He was in effectively a "gun free" zone.

    A nice sentiment.

However, it seems TIME, certainly a major media outlet, sees fit to use these murders to power a false narrative. Making "media heroes" out of people whose particular heroism was to be killed in the absence of a tool that could have prevented their deaths is just sick.

Or at least in questionable taste.

As for "telling it like it is," this isn't that.

The Media glorifying The Media.... Shocked. Shocked, I say.

It's like the Academy Awards...actors giving awards to actors in an attempt to glorify themselves to increase ticket sales. Those involved may be heavily liberal and socialist in their politics but they're capitalists when it comes to their income.

Time Magazine stopped being a legitimate, objective source of information a loooong time ago.

I lost all respect for Time's Person of the Year when they gave it to Barack Obama the second time for "dealing with Republicans" instead of Malala Yousafzai who was shot in the head for being a female who wanted an education in Pakistan, survived and continued her education.

My son , a few years ago when he was in 5th grade started bringing home Time magazine for kids from the school. I told him to take them back and tell your teacher " my dad said I can't bring these home". Total liberal pieces of crap.
