Thanks to a couple of MDS members.

My pig hunter set-up has come to fruition.

    Polytech m14s( 308)
    ATN Thor-4 thermal optic
    Rms shield as backup sight.

I’m planning to take this rig pig hunting in North Carolina this spring.

What did you use for the mount?

    Q

Used a Springfield armory generation 1 scope mount.

30mm medium height rings. I didn’t use the rings that came with the optic. They were too high.

The RMS shield is mounted on a pic rail adapter. Then mounted on the pic rail on the front scope ring.

I have the optic zeroed at 100 meters . Using 149grain fmj right now. But will use 168smk for the hunt.

I’m curious if the ballistic computer on the optic is accurate . I also ordered the auxiliary ballistic laser range finder to speed up the determination of firing solutions to microseconds.

Do those scopes have any delay? Like, could you replace night vision with it for navigation?

Soooo. Damn nice set up. Great weapon imo.

Not a pro hog hunter here but have been a time or two. Having said that, my observation is your rig will be perfect for “the big one” (first shot). IMHO, the length will be problematic on follow up shots once the sounder breaks. I’d prefer a shorter rig. Once the sounder breaks, it’s kinda like a video game for follow up shots. Lots of movement in various, unpredictable directions and various speeds. Follow up shots are a challenge.

    Good luck!!
