Hi. My name is Mark. I’m from Jarrettsville Md in Harford County and I’m new here. Right now I own a blued GP-100 (4” .380/.357) and a Gamo Urban pellet rifle. I’m here to learn to shoot well, about my rights in MD, and how to improve the GP-100. Eventually I’d like to put together a rifle.

I’ve always been a lefty but recently noticed that somehow I became right-eye dominant so I’ve been learning to shoot the scoped Gamo righty. My aim with the GP-100 is not very good and I think I need to learn more about aiming a left-handed grip using my right eye. Having an unmodified Roger trigger probably isn’t helping much, either (LOL).

Anyway, nice to be here. Hopefully I’ll get to meet some of you too.

    Mark

Welcome! I’m new on here too.

I own a few S&W revolvers, but I do know that Ruger of yours is built like a tank. Good choice.

I can be kind of a prima donna when it comes to trigger actions because I own Performance Center models, BUT I will say that your stock Ruger trigger probably doesn’t need “modifying”. If you can shoot a double action revolver well, you’ll be able to shoot a lot of of things well.

Also, I don’t know if you meant to say .380/.357, but I’m 99% sure you meant .38. When it comes to buying ammo, you’ll want to know you buy .38 Special for it. Not .38 S&W, not .38 Short, not .380 ACP, and not .357 Sig.

The two calibers to remember are .38 Special (you can comfortably fire “+P” and “+P+” out of your GP-100), and .357 Mag.

Don’t be afraid to ask questions and do plenty of research!

    Welcome Mark!
I grew up in Jarrettsville. Lived on Norrisville Rd, just past the elementary school. Most of land back then was farms and cornfields. You'll find a lot of good info on this forum.

    Welcome !

    Actually .38 Short ( & .38 Long ) Will work in .357 Mag ( & .38spl ) .

But yes indeed , unless something is actually broken or defective ( extremely unlikely ) , you just need to practice . Dryfire is your Friend !

Welcome Jared. This is a great informative group you have joined. I just recently finished an AR15 and today finished restoring an Italian Carcano 91 Truppe Special Carbines 6.5x52mm.
