What do you guys recommend for a shotgun scope? The shotgun would be a Savage 220 for deer hunting. Thanks in advance.

I would start looking at Vortex or Nikon's in a 2x7x32 or 3x9x32/40. You need good clarity and light gathering ability more tha magnification. Leupold too if you got a bit more scratch.

I'm also shopping for something to mount on my 220. If I were smart, I'd just use the old $120 Nikon 3-9x40 that's somewhere in my basement. It was good enough to wack a deer at nearly 200 yards with my 30.06.

But still, I'm thinking I want/need something new in the $200ish range. Looking at the Burris line - seem to be well reviewed - Fullfield II, Fullfield E1 or Droptine.

Also considering the Leupold American Marksman or VX-Freedom.

In same boat. Waited too long as seems they discontinued the Ultimate Slam. Want something that can gather light late in day as top priority.

Most of my slug guns are now sporting vortex diamondbacks or leupold vxr's. I've used a Nikon slughunter in the past and had a lot of kills with it but was never a fan of the image quality.

I have an older Leupold VXII 2-7X33 Shotgun Scope on my cantilever 870. Always holds zero. Put the crosshair on the vitals, pull trigger and deer dies.

Vortex razor LH. If you can find the 2-10, it is perfect. I picked one up used for $400 and it matches perfectly to that gun. It just put it together for my son and it shoots 2” or less 5 shot groups with browning sabots.

I would have gone with the 3-15 if I couldn’t find the 2-10.

The glass is razor quality and the eye box is huge. The eye relief is listed at 3.8” but you can be much further and have a good view.

Just checked amazon. They have the Razor LH 2-10 for $480 and the 1.5-8 for $375.

You will not be disappointed with this setup.

    Nikon ProStaff 2-7x32mm.

    I've got several of these.
From Remington 870 12 ga Slug guns (2 of 'em!) to Marlin 1895G in .45-70, and will be putting one on a Savage 220 that my son owns.

You'll like the 3.9" eye relief and hold zero even with some stout recoil.
