2019 Spring Rockfish Season

Went out today for 7 hours or so. We reeled in one fish that was to small and threw it back. Other than that there was zero action.

Better than my day. The tide was really low this morning and the keel of the boat was resting on bottom in the slip, but not hard aground. I tried easing out of the slip, and I felt a light thump. At idle speed I sensed a bit of vibration, when I tried to throttle up, it became really pronounced. Had to turn around and cancel the trip as I thought I had a bent propeller. When I got hauled out I found a rope that was apparently laying on the bottom in the slip got into the running gear.

And people used to think I was crazy for carrying an extra prop when I fished in the bay. All you have to do is tangle with a crab pot float line or misjudge the tide at TPL and it ruins your whole day.

It is good to see they would apply it recreational and commercial the same. Also I think the slot limit size could be a lot smaller. It works for redfish and no one is complaining about it and the population is not doing the roller coaster ride that the stripers are.
