    As stated above the original guns had problems cracking, if shot enough;
    Cases can be made from 06/.308 brass;
    At the time I fell in love with a scoped, stocked, SBR version, reports were that the scope kept failing because of the recoil;
    I wound up buying a S&W M-29 which I kept having to have repaired, to keep the cylinder in time, I sold it; Bought a 12 inch barreled bought a Ruger Super Blackhawk 25 years ago, sold it; Recently bought a 4.75 inch barreled Ruger Super Blackhawk to carry as a bear gun in Montana. I can hit a bullet hole at 10 yards with that pistol; It is all the .44 Magnum I need.

    Good luck

    Many, many years ago my favorite uncle gave me a Wildey Survivor in .475. It is a beauty. Incidentally, the company recently restarted operations. They have started selling ammo again - at a somewhat incredible price - but still, I was glad to see them come back into business.

    Resurrecting on older thread but there's no place else I could find for this...just picked up an original Pasadena made Automag from the early 1970s. It doesn't look like it's been shot but probably has and was well cared for. It came with lots of paperwork and three hundred rounds of ammunition...200 rounds of Cor-Bon and 100 of original AMP branded ammo. I know where here's over 1000 rounds rounds of original ammunition available and am working on obtaining some of that.

    Dirty Harry Callahan..."This is the .44 Magnum Automag, and it holds a 300 grain cartridge, and if properly used it can remove the fingerprints."

    That's the kind of stuff I'm looking to accumulate and hold.

    Friends father had an original Auto Mag. When he was decreasing his collection I was allowed to look at it for possible acquisition (Ferengi term) When I picked it up it rattled the thing was so loose. He said all the ones he had seen were like that to keep galling down. If that is true I never want one and I haven't pined for one since that day.

    I'm looking at a couple more that are available...but none are in the condition this one is. It all comes down to price...I don't need another but if the price is right more can be added.

    ****I think it's a cool gun. I've shot one before and it doesn't feel like other bigger bore magazine fed pistols like the Desert Eagle, etc..

    It's a niche gun for sure, and to me it would be a safe queen due to ammo limitations as well as it being tough to find parts, etc...

    Great acquisition though! It looks to be in great shape!

    If you run across any in great shape, that may not be at your price point, or you get enough of them, let me know.

    I only want one. :D
