Let me get this straight, as I stopped checking on the other thread after some images got posted and I didn't care to look at more of them, a kid brings a Playboy to school and gets suspended (this happened when I was in school more than once) but the school system places sexually explicit material clearly depicting minors in the hands of students and it's ok? This doesn't pass the balance test.

Being of a libertarian bent, I think ADULTS should be able to make, buy, and sell all the porn they want so long as it depicts ADULTS engaged in whatever. I draw the line at the age of majority.

Glad I don't have kids being handed this excrement. I won't be in town for tomorrow's event but I'm going to keep tabs on this thread. Thanks for keeping us posted, deep lurker.

We moved to Hoco in 2004 for the schools. Watched it go down hill dramatically with Martirano. That punk needs to go. I could tell stories about the woke sickness that has spread under his watch. And the board of education drunk with power. Using student board members to have critical votes closing schools or mask mandates is evil. That “kid” was a pawn of all pawns.

When Covid hit and they split year long courses into semesters we had our son apply for early graduation from HS and got him out.

Took us three weeks to find a home in NC and leave MD behind. We often look back and regret our move to HOCO.

I support you guys for going after HOCO and would recommend doing everything you can to expose and oust Martirano.

Man, this is great. Glad to see it.

As usual, those seeking to remake the nation in their image are offering a false dichotomy:
Example: Accept this porn in schools or you are a book-burning Nazi. The "literature" in question is by an "award winning" author of color, ergo you are a backwards, Q-anon racist for banning it.

As I explained to my wife, literature can be provocative and award-winning while also not being appropriate for all age groups. There is absolutely nothing wrong with withholding explicit literature from minors until they are mature enough to assimilate it. That's not "book banning" or burning. It's no different than a shopkeep not selling Penthouse magazines to minors in their stores.

This really has exceeded the threshold of simply ousting the school board. The materials presented and the age group to which they have been presented, should legally qualify for child abuse or sex crime charges of some kind. The board members and any involved teachers should be charged and tried.

This will be an interesting test for the police force and prosecutors office.
Parents have filled an official criminal complaint backed with evidence.
So when are the board members going to be arrested and officially charged?

I won't hold my breath.

We're looking at the next Loudon County-style revolt here, in my opinion.
This material is WAY over the line. The school system didn't even offer parents a choice to opt-out. As I understand it, the school system didn't even inform parents about the curriculum.

Test of the prosecutor's office? We've already seen that prosecutors are refusing to prosecute. Police have family, police are parents, too. Police may be willing to make the initial arrests but whether any charges stick to go to trial... Just a few years ago, this would be a slam-dunk conviction with people in jail.

like I have stated before, one good out of all this Covid lockdown BS is that parents of all political leanings saw what the school boards and teachers were teaching kids. Sad that it came to this. I never relinquished my kids to the schools. Most here in Monkey county do. Giving up their parental rights. Some are ok with it. Many are not. That makes me happy.

As you can see below, we will be gathering right smack dab in the middle of “MARYLANDSHOOTERSVILLE

There is public parking available right there at the “Public Safety Complex” where the HoCo Police are co-located with the HoCo Fire Department.

Even if you cannot make it for the sign/flag waving and support for the courageous HoCo Parents at the event itself, you are most welcome and warmly encouraged to join us for the fun AAR de-brief following with your Maryland Shooters friends.

I hope you all can come out and join us tonight for some rewarding action, followed by soaking up some suds together at a restaurant to be named later today:

So if you're wondering why you should get involved with activities like this, just take a page from the Fairfax County Public Schools review of two of the books in question -
Quote:
Two books that were subject to a formal challenge have been deemed appropriate for high school readers following a two-month review process and will be reinstated to Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) libraries.

The decision reaffirms FCPS’ ongoing commitment to provide diverse reading materials that reflect our student population, allowing every child an opportunity to see themselves reflected in literary characters. Both reviews concluded that the books were valuable in their potential to reach marginalized youth who may struggle to find relatable literary characters that reflect their personal journeys.

“Gender Queer: A Memoir” by Maia Kobabe and “Lawn Boy” by Jonathan Evison had been temporarily removed from FCPS libraries serving high schools following a challenge in September. The highly-regarded and award-winning books were questioned due to content said to be of an explicit sexual nature, and claims that they referenced pedophilia.
Yep, "no pedophilia here ..." so they're putting them back on the high-school library shelves. We've posted some of the graphic images here on MDS. Others were distributed in print-form at the warehouse rally. There's no shortage of evidence that this "award winning" material is inappropriate for a high-school library, much less children in general.

I have long held that the US functions through citizen involvement in government. That includes all-the-way-down to the elected School Board and other local offices. Don't like the direction they're going? Gotta do something about it. Annapolis can be far-away and somewhat abstract. This is in your neighborhood. Stop by on your way home from work this evening. Wave a Maryland flag, hold a sign, or just be "on the bricks" in Scaggsville. Boots on the ground matter.

This is Kevin Gilbert's twitter page. Scroll way down and see his feelings about crt, race, police, etc from years ago. He used to post regularly until...ah hem... a concerned citizen started highlighting some of the more egregious things he tweeted. He is in charge of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the county. His branch of central office is ground zero for the injection of CRT into schools. I cannot overstate his influence in all the wokeness going on in the county.
