I'm thinking of building something as well. Is there ATF or MSP paperwork that needs to be filed before starting a build? I'm familiar with the NFA process but not building an HK pistol clone.

You can build any non-NFA gun that is legal for you to own without any extra permission from the crown.
If you are serious into builds you’ll want to hang around weaponsguild.
Several people in this thread post over there too, but that place is a goldmine of info and it’s well worth building up your post count.
I’ve done a few hk builds and have a lot of the tooling. The 3D printed stuff does work but the knowledge of how to get the flat straightened is either experience or deep diving into the guild.
Yep. I have quite a few pre-13 80% lowers that I merely did the pin holes for....
From what I have access to, it does seem like a knowledgeable crowd with heaps of good info (and I quickly learned that they have a NSFW girls with guns thread; sadly it seemed light on IDF bunnies)
Ah, I see you too are a man of culture!
They have " a lot" of nfo. and knowledge, great bunch my other hangout

They have better areas than a lurker can see? I gotta go there more. I have some things I’m planning.

Thanks!Yeah. You just need to make 20ish “meaningful posts”
Pretty much everybody there likes pictures, so pictures of stuff you made with a story to go along, and 20 is easy.
Thanks!
I’ve got a couple of fun plans for large volume and reflex suppressors. I plan to do a 9mm integrally suppressed upper, utilizing all of the volume under the rail for gas expansion.
Also have plans to do a suppressor for a 1919 machine gun. Have the tube. It is next to a couple of commercial suppressors for comparison.
Yeah, that stuff will fit right in. There's an entire area dedicated to title ii stuff. Posting an intro and some of your home builds will also get you a warm welcome.
Awesome! Thanks!
Do it!
It’s a very different forum from most places.
Thanks!

...but first, fix that damned lamp!
