    I work in the entertainment industry (live events, but have friends in Theatre and Film). In professional settings, firearms are treated with the caution and respect one might expect. A lot of steps had to be skipped for this to happen.
     
    To make a long story short- Anti gun zealot Alec Baldwin violated all four of the most important rules of gun safety.
    As of now, specific details are vague. The facts are that he pointed a loaded/real gun at coworkers on a movie set and pulled the trigger- killing one and injuring another. It is surmised that he thought the gun was unloaded or loaded with blanks. Needless to say, he pointed a gun at a person and pulled the trigger. I hope Hollywood protocols don't condone this- regardless whether the gun was "hot" or "cold".
