My wife swims to help a leg issue. She received the following email today:

The Anne Arundel County Department of Health has learned that a patron of the North County Aquatic Center in Glen Burnie tested positive for COVID-19. Earlier this week, the Department of Health determined that two staff members at the Arundel Olympic Swim Center in Annapolis, Maryland, had symptoms concerning for COVID-19.

The County Department of Recreation and Parks staff have been following protocols by wearing masks, social distancing, proper and frequent hand washing, and sanitizing and disinfecting the surfaces in the facility. However, because of the potential prolonged exposure to both patrons and staff, the following steps will be taken at both facilities:

Closing both the Arundel Aquatic Center and the Arundel Olympic Swim Center for 14 days starting today
Perform a thorough cleaning of the centers.
Any person without symptoms who used the North Arundel Aquatic Center and any staff at the North Arundel Aquatic Center from Tuesday, July 7 to Tuesday, July 14 should quarantine for 14 days from the last day at the pools and get tested 3-5 days after your first exposure at the centers.
Patrons who used the Arundel Olympic Swim Center and staff at Arundel Olympic Swim Center who have no symptoms do not need to quarantine or get tested.
Any person with symptoms who used the pools during this time period should call the Department of Health to get tested immediately and isolate while waiting for results.

If you have any concerns, questions or want to be tested, call the Department of Health

Note the implications for Anne Arundel Schools. An employee at the pool exhibited symptoms and they are closing for two weeks. Not an active infection, not a positive test. Symptoms.

With this from the esteemed Dr. Kalyanaraman, and the control desired by the Lord Pittman, there's no way we can put the innocent children at risk by exposing them to people who know people with symptoms.
