Was buying something else and the guy had this reproduction of my most sentimentally valuable gun; the Winchester 62a. So I bought it cheap and maybe that’s all it’s worth and that would be fine. I’ll surf the worldwide google machine later check it out. Just laid it out to clean and inspect better. Last thing I saw from Brazil was the national soccer team crying after Germany kicked butt! Thanks for checking it out.

Nice, these actually have become very desirable guns. I have a couple of the carbines and they have escalated considerably with some of the more uncommon variations going for $600 or more. Typical will be around $400 to $500. They are on my buy if you see them reasonably list. Reliable, handy, reasonably accurate. They even made a 17 HMR version which shoots well too.

Thanks. It takes down just like the original. The repro differences I see: Barrel reads only 22 LR vs listing long and short too, forearm is flat bottomed, stock is a touch shorter, has a safety- unlike Winch.- and its on top of receiver, fit and finish sub the Winchester, the hammer has an inset silver- colored fitting...I presume it’s threaded...not sure what this is?

Its a lock there in the back of the hammer I think.
I seen this and remembered I have one of those that I hadn't thought about in a while.

It's a Rossi though, no safety or nothing. Been about nearly 25 some odd years I bet by now.
I do remember when I bought it, the guy behind the counter was from Baltimore working a part time job and I met him from some ground I used to hunt.
I told him I wanted it for my nephew who was a lefty.

He got it for me for about 85.00 or something like that with his employee discount because I went over there to get it.
Later on that same year I think it was, he cut the hell out of his hand gutting a deer in East New Market.

Him and his old man who was retired BCP were real nice people.
They used to love to come down to hunt laugh and carry on and stuff.

Almost to 50? And my wife says I don’t talk enough!

I agree with Doc, probably the Taurus hammer lock, you didn't see that on the earlier Taurus guns and earlier Rossi's. Ill have to look at mine but I dont recollect there being one, might be on my 17 HMR. Strangely everything in Taurus/Rossi land is just a little different from year to year.

50 posts gets you access to the classifieds, its a coveted threshold.

Terrible knife accident- That’s another notch against East new market. Driven through there, all I remember is Suicide bridge rd and I think their was a suicide bridge restaurant...Don’t even want to look up the history behind that name.

What? Suicide bridge restaurant is still going strong. Eat there often during the summer.

Just saying, with a name like that, it’s gotta be good. It’s a little different than “Friendlys” or “the Sunshine Diner.” There’s a sign going south in Delaware for “Slaughter Beach” I’m sure there’s a neat story there, but you know Toll Brothers didn’t name it.

LOL, I get it. I always wondered how anyone could die jumping off of that bridge. It isn’t very tall. I think it’s actually called Cabin Creek Bridge. I’d be surprised if it’s more than 15’ over the water.

Plastic trigger guard.... that kills it right there, poor way of imitating a great gun. :sad20: Just like the Rem Express, poor imitation.

Its a shame, the ones they made through the 90s to early 2000 were solid. Have a couple of them. Stupid plastic safety but thats not really an issue. Probably one of my favorite rimfires to shoot on a nice early morning when you just wnat to knock down some cans and very pack able as a takedown. As noted above as much as I respect the Springfield M6 and the TPS clones a Rossi 62 carbine in .22 mag is a much better pack gun pound for pound. There are a couple on GB that are probably fairly good deals around $300 to $400.
