A good friend of mine is now wheelchair bound and is looking into selling his Luger. I'm trying to get a valuation of it from those who have knowledge of these. (I know almost nothing about them)
I will post pictures in the first post in this thread.
As you can see it has an original holster with the field tool.

That's a very nice collectible rig. Though it's a common WWII variant, if it's all matching, with the extra mag and holster, I'd start the bidding at 2K and it should land somewhat north of that. In addition to sold auction prices, I often use Simpsonltd.com as a gauge, though their prices are generally full retail and I usually take off ~33% for my target price. Pricing a Luger, like everything else these days, is a moving target.

    A byf42 "Brown Widow" :)

    Throwing some numbers out:
Holster ~300-ish (but need to lookup the specific date and maker, some are higher $)
    Spare mag ~150
Tool ~100 up to 200 (depends on marking)
Pistol ~2000-2500 assuming the internal parts match too

as a rig it would typically bring less (probably 2500-ish) than selling individual pieces, but hate to see that happen.
If you're not a potential buyer, I'd recommend he contact Legacy Collectibles and sell it on consignment.

I do appraisals, and I agree with the numbers given here. Thanks for showing it- very nice photos. If it has any history that explains its origin, you might consider writing it up and having your friend sign it. Even second-hand history of a pistol like this is worth preserving.

Thanks. He’s contacted Legacy Collectibles to try to get a valuation of what he has but hasn’t heard back from them.
He’s still torn as to whether or not he wants to sell it or keep it.

Take it the the Maryland Antique Arms Collectors show in March. You will have a room full of collectors to make you offers.

Sadly. the MACA show doesn't permit post 1898 pistols. That shouldn't stop you from bringing photos. Deals can be made somehow, I'm sure, if that's the plan.
