what does the carbon powder do? is that for color or strength or adhesiveness?

Strickly for color. In fact, if you use too much, it will weaken the epoxy. If you don't have a problem with a grey color here and there, you can just use the epoxy as is. I was selling these to cowboy shooters so they had to look like they were manufactured as a short barrel gun. ;)

I need to do this to a barrel. But I don't have the skills or tools you do!
I'll be using a cheap angle grinder and luck! Haha

Years ago my Father had an old Winchester 97 that Mr Magoo cut the barrel down on, it was crooked as hell. It bothered me most of my life until I couldn't stand it any more. I drilled a hole in a 2x4 very close to the OD of the barrel. I clamped that 2x4 in my vise and slowly, using the 2x4 as a guide for the hacksaw blade, cut about 1" off of the barrel. I dressed the muzzle with emery cloth and cold blued it. Then I put the barrel back on the gun and secured it in a padded jig and plumbed it with a level on the side of the receiver and then located the top of the barrel with a pipe center finder so that I could center punch the top of the barrel and drill and tap it for a bead. I screwed the bead in with a bit of loctite and was good to go. It turned out pretty good.

    Great work Sam!

I need to chop a ribbed 870 barrel down. Simple home defense set up. What are my legal limits for adding a shockwave pistol grip to an 870? 18" barrel and > 26" OAL right?
