Just finished an AR 9 build and ran into a problem.

    Engage colt pattern lower
    Engage upper
ALG lower parts kit with ACT combat trigger
    CMMG bolt
    Pistol buffer tube
    Tubbs flat wire spring
    Slash's Heavy buffer 9mm buffer 9oz
    Brownell's 32 round mags
    11" Ballistic Advantage barrel
    Gemtech 9mm Tundra can

Testing started out great. It ran 115, 124, 147 grn ammo perfectly without the can. 147 grn with the can started out good, ran through about a 100 rounds with out an issue. Since everything was going so well, I decided to run it hard. Loaded up two mags for mag dumps, at the end of the second mag the bolt catch broke.

I am assuming I need to slow this down some more. Slash's does offer a heavier 12oz buffer, but it's kind of pricey at $140. Any other options? Defective bolt catch? Am I missing something else?

excessive play between the bolt catch and the slot it rests in can also cause it to break.
i would also try a longer buffer.

He doesn't need a spacer. The Slash 9mm buffer has it built in. Double check when you pull the bolt open w/ the handle how far back it goes behind the catch. Should only be a fraction of an inch. Maybe just a defective catch?

Spacing was good 1/8 inch at the most between the catch and bolt fully retracted.
