It looks like Colorado's new laws threw a monkey wrench into a gun buy back. Can Maryland's laws end buy backs here?

You have to love the irony in this one. According to a report from KOAA, anti-gun groups in Colorado were forced to cancel a gun buyback event due to new laws passed by the state legislature earlier this year.

The law states that all transfers of firearms must go through a federally licensed firearms dealer who will then proceed to perform a background check for each transfer.

If Together Colorado, the group planning the event, had wanted the buyback to take place they would have had to host it at a gun shop. Then, for each transfer they would need to pay money and go through a time consuming background check…for every firearm.

Love it. And any FFL who would be a party to that should be strung up a tree.

I don’t think you need to worry about that. In fact most FFLs are saying they will refuse to conduct background checks for private sales between individuals and only conduct background checks on firearms they sell themselves. They cite that the background check charge cannot be raised (per the law) and they cannot afford to do them for private sales. Another perfect example of an unforeseen consequence of a badly written B.S. gun law

Somehow I dont think those who passed the bill are too worried about this. :sad20:
