Maryland's Democratic overseers have had plenty of opportunities to "revisit gun laws," without actual solutions.

It's time to revisit the politicians. They're what hasn't worked.

How many times will people elect the same types of people to office and expect a different result?

With few exceptions, folks in Maryland keep electing the same people BECAUSE they want the same results

    Lets see....new Annapolis appointments...

    Judiciary Chairman...Luke Clippinger
    Judiciary Vice Chair...Vanessa Atterbeary
    House Majority Leader...Kathleen Dumais
    Democrat Caucus Chair...Eric Luedtke

Umm....this session (2019) is going to be an infringefest. Not a single one of them gives a rats ass about the Constitution.

2019 MGA is going to be a nightmare for the 2A in Maryland. The House Majority Leader is as corrupt as they come, and a hateful, bitter, and just plain mean person.

If they get their way, as a Maryland resident, you'll be lucky to be able to buy a squirt gun on vacation in Myrtle Beach.

"Going full retard" will be an understatement for what they are cooking up.

    (all my opinion)

I sadly have to agree, especially in light of:
    • The lunatic, tyrannical laws being passed in CA and elsewhere in the captive states; and
    • The new anti-gun groups being spawned by Bloomberg and various international corporations.
Seems to me to be an "imperfect storm" brewing that will break over the MGA this coming session unless something serious happens in the meantime. :sad20:

If the right number of seats are flipped in the House and/or Senate, then Saint Larry can veto all of the infringements and we'll be good to go. :innocent0

I’d argue the constituents of those legislaturs want boots on our throats. That’s why they do what they do.

And I would argue that the vast, overwhelming majority of constituents couldn't give a rat's azz about anything unless it DIRECTLY affects them or a close relative in a negative way.

    Do not move to Florida.

With our spineless Governor passing new gun laws because he is running for senate we will more then likely be the next blue state. Desantis is running against some Bernie Sanders backed socialist demoncrat. Now that we are even importing mass shooters I think this state has a chance of being blue this year. Not to mention crime and drugs are on a massive rise and we are the second most overpopulated sate in the USA. I moved here from Commieland in 2015 and now im buying land in Arizona or West Virginia. Both are constitutional carry states.

    Maryland 2A Issues

One of my concerns is that some may consider PTSD an issue. I have a rating from the VA for PTSD, and also, retired career firefighter because of job related PTSD. I ALSO am 1 of about 3% (quoted from a Maryland State Trooper) of the Maryland population that actually was granted a Maryland Concealed Carry permit. So, because I have PTSD, does that mean that I am a "crazy, angry Veteran" that is going to go bizerk and randomly shoot someone? No, but some may try to argue otherwise. So, the "mental illness" thread, PTSD is an injury, NOT mental illness. I carry to defend myself from existing threats and also, to stand in the gap if needed.

Gillum has a better chance of being indicted than getting elected. I'm still staying far away from Florida, but not because of the politics.

You can classify it how you want. PTSD is going to fall under the psychiatric illness category. An acquired one, but one nonetheless.

A Maryland legislator says laws regarding firearms possession and mental health will be revisited in the state's next legislative session.

Sen. Robert Zirkin, who chairs a legislative committee, said Tuesday the shooting at a Florida video game tournament by a suspect from Maryland highlights the need to examine laws regarding the time someone can be voluntarily admitted to a psychiatric facility and still pass a background check.

Now, a person can't pass a background check if voluntarily admitted for at least 30 consecutive days.

Zirkin says it "should be less than that." However, he says it's a complicated law that should be applied on a case-by-case basis. That's because some people could voluntarily have 30 days of inpatient treatment and not pose a danger.

I recall when Bobby Z 1st started to run for office. he used to eat at Lenny's Deli and probably still does if he hasn't moved.
At any rate Bobby always seemed reasonable and practical and easy to talk too. no attitude or high horse to speak of. I HOPE HE HAS STAYED ON THAT PATH.

IF FOLKS ARE LOOKING FOR A POLITICAL ALLY BOBBY Z MIGHT BE SOMEONE U WANT TO TALK TOO. I haven't paid attention to politics like that in awhile so just a suggestion.

I would think that laws like this and PTSD for veterans would have the effect of discouraging people from seeking mental health treatment.

Is there any evidence that people seeking mental health treatment is declining?

I'm not sure about declining, but laws like this only contribute to the stigma arround mental problems that most in the field or working to remove.

He's a leftist and doesn't give a shit about guns but I've never gotten the impression that he's stupid or a zealot. Not Joe Vallario indifferent but not Frosh fanaticism.

Actually now that I have moved out of Maryland... I do think Maryland needs to have more sensible gun control safety laws. I mean look at all the gun crimes in Baltimore and elsewhere in Maryland. Clearly, Marylanders cannot be entrusted with guns. I think I should contact the Dems in charge of Maryland and let them know of all those scary loopholes that remain :D

Need to pass an RQL and follow Japanese style gun laws. I mean if Japan can eradicate gun deaths I'm sure Maryland can too.

IMO, there are a few points that need to be a common theme:

    1. The mentally ill are no more likely to commit violent crimes than the general population UNLESS substance abuse is present. If that is the case, it goes up to 6-fold that of people without mental illness.

    2. Weaponizing mental illness will surely make people less likely to see treatment.

    3. Maryland needs better access to mental health care. The current system is a joke. Mental health care WITHOUT the fear of the State discriminating against you. We will have to look closely at the ADA and see if any laws discriminating against the mentally ill will violate that. I bet they will.

    4. We need to look and see if there are ANY bills actually looking to change how criminals are processed and treated. These morons pass gun regulations only followed by the law-abiding. They are passing laws affecting oranges, hoping the apples with fall into line. We should make fun of them for this.
