I thought this might be a mistake but it looks legit. The system is back up.

Looks like you can file trusts online. Then you mail in your fingerprint cards.

    It is up.

I want to know why, in the living hell, with all the money that they spent on this, can they not have a system that uses goddamn electronic fingerprint submission like every other modern place in the country that does BG checks. What the hell. I know it shouldn't surprise me, but come on!

The question is which one is a faster, trust or individual? Or is it the same as before ?

Im guessing individual is still faster. I did a silencerco trust from the kiosk last year and it took several months longer than those reporting individual approvals.

Finger prints still get submitted to each state CJIS. Then those agencies forward to the FBI for the check. They need to find a way for BATFE to receive prints from individual state fingerprint vendors. The problem seems also to be that BATFE must also query the FBI database as they don't maintain one.

    It can't be that hard.

regardless wohoo! I remember when the system first came online and i was getting form 1s back in a month. Even with all its problems of crashing, upload quality for docs, or file limits..system was faster than mailing in.

So we go to the local fingerprint place, get em done, then snail mail the cards? And isn't there something about CLEO for Form 1s?

I think you are required to inform them only if you file as an individual.

Someone please correct me if I’m wrong here.

You have to inform them no matter what. You just don't need spproval as an individual, like you used to.

It's basically a box you check on the form 1. Just mail a copy of the form.

    Definitely not where you are!
And technically you can do the fingerprints yourself. However, you must use the appropriate ink and having a second person helping you will make it a lot easier. A lot of local gun shops are getting into the business of doing fingerprints and passport photos, specifically for NFA paperwork.

    Ink:

    Card Holder (recommended):

ATF Distribution Center Order Form (free fingerprint cards):

Make sure to select the fingerprint card for "NFA, Imports"

Order a bunch (10-ish) because you're going to mess up the first time.

Pro tip: Do the prints first and let dry before you starting filling out the info above ;)

I haven't used a SilencerShop kiosk, but that is also (obviously) a good solution.

I believe that is where you’d upload your trust or supporting documentation if needed depending on your answers from the maker’s questions.

It took 1 week for me to get approved!! I paid online and got my cards and dropped off my CLEO paperwork last week. Got 2 emails within 20 minutes from each other stating I’m approved today
