Does anyone know if there are any firearm safety courses for kids or for the entire family?

Are you looking to impart knowledge and safe practices upon the family, or aquire a piece of paper per se ?

You may want to explore finding NRA Home Firearm Safety course. Most of the NRA Instructors/Training Counselors here can give the course. It is not often one that is offered.

What age are the kids? Maybe you can get them into a junior shooting program. They will learn safety, gun handling, and marksmanship. There are BB gun programs, air rifle, small bore, etc. Programs are sponsored or put on by many groups such as American Legion, Jaycees, Scouts, 4H, CMP, NRA, Project Appleseed, etc.

The CMP has a lot of things for juniors:
    Home page
    http://thecmp.org/

CMP Publications and Training Materials including Safety & Rules publications
    http://thecmp.org/communications/publications/

CMP Coaching Resources see the Safety section
    http://thecmp.org/training-tech/coaching-resources/

    CMP Air Gun index
    http://thecmp.org/air/

Back issues of the CMP magazine for junior shooters have lots of articles
    http://thecmp.org/communications/on-the-mark/

Including a special series for juniors by the former CMP Director Gary Anderson (Olympic Champion)

Or put on your paternal hat, assume the traditional role. You teach them.

Since the invention of firearms, people were tought by their fathers. I'm sure thoudands of years before that , the safe and effective handly of pointy sticks and big rocks was customarily learned from one's father .
