    Consulting the MDS braintrust here:

Someone told me about a place that makes and sells those giant Nutty Buddies like you find at Harris's and some of the other area crab houses. I think it was in Pasadena. My GoogleFu is either weak today, or such a business doesn't exist because I can't find anything...

    For the uninitiated:
These are frozen custard on a sugar cone, chocolate dipped, covered in crushed peanuts, then deep frozen. A proper one is about a foot tall and solid as a rock.

Looking to buy a crap load of these for a grad party in May and trying to avoid driving to Harris's and paying their full price. Any ideas?

Try food places like sysco. A lot of places get their food there. Or ask Harris Crab house if you can get a bunch.

Thanks. I'm pretty sure these aren't made in a factory by a company like Sysco. If I can't find the local business that makes these for the crab houses, I'll just ask for a bulk price from Harris's. Good excuse to buy a new cooler!

The Harris menu says 'homemade Nutty Buddy' so I think they make them there.

Probably fill up a standard sugar cone with soft serve, then dunk it in the chocolate and then peanuts.

Yes - that's what I'm talking about. Then, they deep freeze it so you can take more than 2-3 minutes to eat. I've seen them at AA Seafood from time to time and I think one other crab house. I remember a waiter telling me that there was some business that made them.

I've been to Daily Scoop in the Dena numerous times. Never had the Nutty Buddies but their ice cream is awesome! Gets packed on the weekend evenings. Definitely worth the trip!
