    the 300wm is, arguably, the great north american cartridge. I would put 308 on the low side, with 30-06 handloaded to boltgun specs as reliable. 7mm rem mag, 300wm, up to 338 LM work on anything we have.

    as for a .50 on a whistlepig, well, i get plenty of effect with smaller stuff and I don't have a long enough range to justify owning a .50 currently. 1100yd just ain't gettin it. If I move out west I will get a .375CT, .408CT, or a .50

    Ya... i can’t really justify one either.

    Most of my trips to farm are 22-250 and 300wm. Typically a ghog gun and an “anything else” gun.
