Friends-Helping out a GreatUncle who at 94 is given up the reloading passion. Can you tell me if primers ever expire (stored in a very dry area and properly). The below picture shows what I have and I an unsure if they worth moving on or using them in West VA bomb fire on the weekends due to the hazmat side of the house. I work in Rockville and live in Herndon, if you would be interested in them let me know..

Also have to move some .264 brass, RCBS .270WIN, .357MAG and .264 die sets and a few coffee cans of .30 caliber cast lead. About two boxes of "wads" that where used for a 16 gauge but the box states they can be used for 16 and 12 gauge.

    Any advice is appreciated...

Those boxes go back to the seventies and the Alcan shotgun primers may even be older. I have used 70 year old ammo and it fired just fine. The primers may work fine if they have been properly stored but there is no way of telling if they will work other than by loading and shooting them.

Looks from what I can see of the outside packaging that your great uncle took good measures to store his components carefully. If I were to have to bet, I’d bet that they’d work as well today as the day they were purchased.

That said, I think John’s date timelines are spot on, and these would have collector interest to the right guy. Be a shame to shoot them IMO. Maybe put these in the classified?

OP, if you have the time, advertise them as collectibles on Ebay. It will give you a larger market and there are a number of folks that collect these kinds of things.

Anything old related to firearms is collected by somebody.
Old powder containers are in demand.
