Everyone says to "testify", but no one has(most people) ever testified in court or before a board. Ever.
A simple grammar lesson, few minutes spending time to put thoughts together before actually having to speak before the public goes a long way. You look smarter and well read on your subject.
It's ok to have notes to guide you along.
Keep it simple stupid. You have 2 minutes.

Seriously. There's some terribly gross grammar in testimonies, but gets over shadowed by nerves and enthusiasm.
Enthusiasm doesn't project an agenda. Well laid out thoughts do.

So, if you're testifying, spend a few minutes knowing what you want to say, write points down, dress nice, don't slouch on the chairs like some stupid fvck "firearms instructor", and be able to answer questions about what you spoke.
You might be up there longer than you thought. Be smart. Stupid speaking for a long time is still stupid.

Good luck people. Speak your feelings, not the group's. Because 70 speaking the same thing requires only 1 person to speak for them.
Have an impact. Make a difference.

I am not the person to get up in front and speak in front of large crowds , I do enjoy talking in social settings with old friends or new friends .

I wish I could testify but it will never happen .

I have seen some great speakers and they add humor .

It's not hard to say "I will not comply".

If we have a turnout like we did in 2013, or even 1/2 that they are not going to give us 2 minutes. In the Senate in 2013 Froshie let us say either "support" or "oppose". 500 people saying "I will not comply" is a powerful message.

Not in this case, unless you stumble on the way to the dais or seat.

They're you go folks. "I will not comply" is all you need to know.

Hardly with the trip down to just have to say that.

Hoping for a good turnout and there is a very real chance that is all you’ll have time for. Most definitely worth the trip down to say that. Quit being an asshat.

I agree 100%. Bad grammar and foolish arguments make it easier for the left to dismiss us as unintelligent, knuckle-draggers.

Let’s also try to dress appropriately. We will be speaking before a state legislature, not going hunting or invading Iraq.

I like that place and enjoyed the conversation , anytime .

Not in this case, unless you stumble on the way to the dais or seat.

Liberals love passion. Don't be cold, but don't start tearing up. Know your subject and be succinct. Don't waste precious time. Don't be an old, fat, white guy(ok, couldn't help myself).

Visually, it always looks good to place your talking points in front of you, and never look down at them(a blank page has the same effect). ;)

Yeah humor is not a good fit for the audience and you just descripted me as the white guy ...:lol2: Not the 2 other things .

This started out as being the friendliest effort I think I've seen from Blaster......but I guess it could only last so long.

Standing up, saying your name, and, "I oppose this bill, thank you," does not require a great deal of oratorial ability and is a lot more than sitting home waiting for someone else to do it.

Whitehead: Is It Too Late For Non-Violent Means To Restore American Liberty?
    https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2019...te-non-violent-means-restore-american-liberty

It’s time to stop waiting patiently for change to happen, stop waiting for someone to rescue you, and stage a breakout.

Get mad, get outraged, get off your duff and get out of your house, get in the streets, get in people’s faces, get down to your local city council, get over to your local school board, get your thoughts down on paper, get your objections plastered on protest signs, get your neighbors, friends and family to join their voices to yours, get your representatives to pay attention to your grievances, get your kids to know their rights, get your local police to march in lockstep with the Constitution, get your media to act as watchdogs for the people and not lapdogs for the corporate state, get your act together, and get your house in order.

Appearances to the contrary, this country does not belong exclusively to the corporations or the special interest groups or the oligarchs or the war profiteers or any particular religious, racial or economic demographic.

This country belongs to all of us: each and every one of us—“we the people”—but most especially, this country belongs to those of us who love freedom enough to stand and fight for it.

As I point out in my book Battlefield America: The War on the American People, we are fast approaching the point at which we will have nothing left to lose.

Don’t wait for things to get that bad before you find your voice and your conscience.

As Solzhenitsyn’s character reflects The Gulag Archipelago:

“How we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if … during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?... The cursed machine would have ground to a halt! If...if...We didn't love freedom enough. And even more – we had no awareness of the real situation.... We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward.”

Take your stand now—using every nonviolent means at your disposal—while you still can.

Don’t wait to reflect back on missed opportunities to push back against tyranny.

Don’t wait until you’re the last one standing.

    Time is running out.

I wish I could testify but it will never happen .

I used to think that, but now I find myself regularly in Annapolis. As mentioned, no one is obligated to use the entire 2 minute testimony window. A simple "Good morning, my name is MigraineMan from Frederick County. I oppose this legislation and ask the committee to return an unfavorable report." is sufficient. Pass the mic and you're done. Your willingness to show up in person and testify is a message unto itself.

If you want to testify, but are intimidated or nervous, that's okay. Know that you won't be there alone. Write some bullet points on an index card, and practice speaking your testimony out-loud in your basement or garage or bedroom. I don't advocate reading prose from a page, because you lose connection to your audience. Time yourself - Android phones have a countdown timer on a tab in the Clock app ... don't know about iOS, but I suspect they do too. You'll be surprised how quick 2 minutes goes. Have a backup plan for a truncated statement that lasts only 30 seconds.

Above all, speak to the Senators and Delegates. Don't just bury your head in your notes. Make eye contact. Make a subconscious connection. Send your message from you to them, even if it's just "I oppose this bill, and you should too."

This is the silliest thing I've ever heard. Just be yourself. If yourself isn't good enough then shame on them or us all. Dress appropriately? What does that mean exactly?

Bad Grammar? How does that make a difference?

This appears to be some type of order to not be "embarrassed" because we believe in the 2A and a call for only the articulate to speak. SMH

These legislators are not kings. They are your public servants. And I suggest you can bring that to their attention, too. They work for us. Do not be intimidated. The "I am opposed and I will not comply" is a good statement.
