I was kinda considering voting for Quinn or writing in Peroutka. But just seeing how extreme the dems have become, and that a Ben jealous administration would embolden the far left. I'll have to hold my nose for Hogan since he's pretty much the best we can for right now.

Still... even in denial... you just have to call people names. :sad20:

I know... you were... “Not referring to you or anyone else”. sure... yeah... that’s the ticket.

    Psst... you’re catching up.;)

LOL, I’ll tag you later where at least 3 times today alone where you called people names on other posts after I get back from taking my Dad out for his 85 BB. You must have a different set of standards from the rest of us. HA HA .

Hogan is just the key to this election. We have to elect other Republicans down ballot if we ever have a chance of taking over this state. Sure, it's going to be difficult, but to cast your ballot for someone who will not have a chance of winning is beyond my scope of comprehension.

    That makes two of us.

We've already established that the bar for being insulted has been set really low in this thread so have at it.

RD (and I) like the banter...and that's all it really is so don't take things personally. He's actually a legit person and cares believe it or not.

I never intended to insult anyone but some people seem to take issue if you have another opinion on voting for governor and feel the need to lecture you.

    Sigh...
At least I have a lingering effect in Maryland.
My ex told me she was voting for Hogan.

It would seem that those who have decided that Hogan is NOT THE PERFECT CANDIDATE, have chosen to back a candidate that will not win. So, it would seem that for the first time in the history of modern US politics, Quinn the PERFECT candidate, will lose the election.

What I'm trying to say is that even though Hogan isn't perfect (nor is any candidate), why back anyone who by their own account, doesn't have a chance to win the election?

Because breaking the 2 party system has to start somewhere and at sometime. At some point, the "perfect candidate" who (self admittedly) will not win this election, may win the election at some point in the future, given enough people that step outside of the belief that the 2 party system is the only viable option.

Maryland just barely got it's second party four years ago, but it's already started to fizzle out. I'm pretty sure we'll be back to one before long.

If you think that the bantering that goes on is lecturing, then you might consider the cooking forum. Some are more blatant in their methods. But rest assured, we all have our very own strong opinion on this matter. You can vote for Quinn, Mickey Mouse or who ever you'd like but there are those among us who will never understand why others won't vote for Hogan while he is the only candidate that isn't a socialist AND has a chance of winning. Hogan is the perfect candidate, but he's the closest one we have who has a chance on winning this election. Do I like his entire platform? No. But there isn't a candidate on the ballot (or whom I'd be willing to write in) that is perfect. But he is the one who I feel will work best for my situation in this God forsaken, Demwitted state I call home.

Go ahead and vote for the candidate you feel is the best, but please make sure your vote isn't thrown away because you candidate doesn't stand a chance on winning this election. This is a concept I just have a problem with.

Funny that you mentioned the cake forum since I’ve already said that judging by the comments by some on a second amendment forum that sometimes I feel like I’m on a cake forum. I’m very happy with the choices I’ve made and have very thick skin. It’s all good.

This is politics, there will never be that perfect candidate. No one will appeal to everyone. Maryland is and has been a 1 party state for decades and you think that a 3rd party candidate is going to win in the foreseeable future? I will be happy if we can win enough votes to take away their super majority in my lifetime. Then we can think about working towards that perfect candidate. But until then, if we stand divided, divided will all shall fall. I understand the hurt feelings people like you (those who have fought for the many in this state) and the need to want to fight for us all. It's a noble cause and I appreciate your actions more than you know. But I don't believe that fighting the good fight includes dividing the core. Those who are sitting on the fringe need to see solidarity. We need to fight for those down ballot candidates where the most can be accomplished. At this time Hogan is the person we can ask to bring the Republican party more votes than ever before in this state. This would include those in local offices. I'm not saying that Hogan is the answer, but he is the means to our ends at this point.

He is the rallying point for what needs to take place in 2018. He isn't a savor nor is he what we want our party to be in the future, but he is the person to turn this state more Red than it ever has been. Perfection is not what we need, it's a mascot and he is the best mascot we have had in my lifetime. Now lets get out there and win one for the Hoggie !!! Rah, rah, rah.

What's inherently better about a 3, 4, or more party system? They don't seem to be any more effective than ours.

Thanks for understanding that I’ll vote for the candidate I believe will best represent my values and also hope that your vote won’t be thrown away either!

Mickey Mouse has been written in just about every election, but never made it. I appreciate his persistence, but I just don't think he's got it in him. You could write in Mike Rowe/Joe Mantegna. I don't think either of them are running, so they've got about the same chance as Quin.

Yes...let's punish the better option by allowing the nightmare to take office. Yeah, we will suffer. But at least Hogan learned his lesson and he will be a better Republican.

Then we can post how it wasn't our fault because we did the right thing...in our mind.

That last part is something I've been thinking about...dreading even. I've heard (and maybe even said) that the "I voted" sticker is a license to bitch. Folks who vote for one of the untenable candidates have guaranteed free range of that license post election. When Jealous is using increased tax revenue to confiscate and burn our magazines and shotguns, they can say (with a clear conscience), "Hey, I didn't vote for him :innocent0"

If, by some miracle, Hogan wins, anything he does wrong will be shouted on high, "See what you get! I hope you're happy; I didn't vote for him! :rasp:"

What about the Green party candidate?

So I ran the list of governors of Maryland, by party.
    Here's the tally:

    Independent - 4
    Federalist - 9
    Democratic Republican - 9
    Anti-Jacksonian - 3
    Jacksonian - 1
    Whig - 3
    Democratic - 23
    Constitutional Union - 1
    Republican - 9

I'm not drawing any conclusions from this, but it's interesting. The Independents were in from 1777 to 1778. After that, the dreaded Party system took over.

Maybe the democrats should rename themselves the Anti-Trumpian party.

I saw this in the news yesterday; though not about MD, still interesting. I don't think Democrats are going to make the same mistake they did in 2016 in letting 3rd party candidates split their vote.

    https://apnews.com/fbf4a5142d8f4263ae2d95dc3a0d81e1

I heard the "Vote for the Democrats" sign waiver talking about Jealous's path to victory.

I hope if he wins, everyone who protest votes stays in Maryland to experience his policies.
