So, I walk into my local firearms dealer today and as I am browsing the wares, I notice that the dealer has HQL classes scheduled. I ask the counterman about it and he starts to tell me all of the ins and outs. One of the owners of the establishment yells the store and said "Hey, aren't you retired military? I said yes and he said I am exempt from all of that crap. I said what about finger prints and he said, no prints either. He showed me the form and it said that active and retired military are EXEMPT with the proper ID card. Then he just smiled at me and said.............start shopping. So, is what I am saying the fact or did I just have a happy day dream?

Yep, retired military are exempt, per the state police website. Veterans who didn't retire are only exempt from the training.
