    Hi Everyone,

I recently got a SIG MCX in 300blk and am wondering what you or people you know have done to customize or mark your magazines for specific ammunition? Since 300blk runs in AR15 mags and I generally run Pmags I thought Magpul had different colored baseplates for sale but I can't find any. I see they still make different color Ranger Plates but I have no experience with those and am not sure I'm interested.

For example if I'm wearing a couple mags in a belt I can look down and grab a Red Base plate Pmag which could indicate it's got super sonic ammo or a yellow for Sub sonic or something like that.

I see Magpul makes 300blk specific mags but the only thing different aesthetically is the grip texture.

Change the baseplates so they have different colors? Use a paint marker to indicate somehow? Colored tape? Laser engrave and color fill an Eggplant emoji?
What would you do or what have you seen done.
    What are your thoughts?

I use a fine point automotive touch up paint in yellow to write the caliber on the base of the mag.

I use a Black magic marker and mark the left rear side of the hand guard and the left side of the magazines. So 300 should be over 300, .223 over .223 etc.

The 300BLK PMAG’s have a different colored retaining plate in the bottom. 5.56 is gray, 300BLK is black.

If you want a very obvious way of telling caliber Faxon offers different colored bands for 5.56, 300BLK, and 7.62x39. This is the way I would go if I had a caliber other than 5.56 that used the same magazines.

They also have white ones that you can fill in your caliber info in the event it’s something other than 5.56, 300BLK, or 7.62x39.

A 10pk of any of them is $9.99. It’s worth a $1 each if you may want to reuse magazines at a later date that way you don’t have one marked with paint that says 300BLK and you want to use it for 5.56.

Another option is pickup a spray can of Duracoat in whatever color, disassemble the magazines you want for 300BLK and spray the base plates.

I’ve seen hockey tape or lacrosse stick tape used to mark mags. Of the two, I like the hockey tape better as it’s flatter and comes in a wide variety of colors.
