You’ll find this in today Metro Express newspaper. I see that DC is allowing concealed carry more now but it doesn’t do its justice. Any thoughts ?

More than 700 people have asked the D.C. police for licenses to carry loaded concealed handguns when they dine, shop and walk the streets of the nation’s capital. In the months since a court ordered city officials to scale back local gun-control laws, police department records show that more than half the applicants are not District residents.
I was actually down there to submit my application yesterday, and was listening to Officer King complain about all the non resident applications, telling the others in the office that they should have made the permits for residents only. All it would have taken, according to him, were a few simple words to make the law the way it should have been.
He then said the MD permit required 16 hours of training isn't actually required, so all of us would have to do it again... because they only required 4. I tried to explain that was only for the HQL, but he was adamant. I showed him my form from MD clearly saying it was a 16 hour course, and he wasn't having any of it...
The good news is that the gentleman who actually processed my paperwork and directed me around for prints and pictures, was very friendly, very helpful, and we shared the thought that some people really don't like their jobs very much.
We'll see...
