Wow, that is extremely interesting stuff. I wonder how the barrels would have survived if they hadn't been so abused? Either way, good find and all of the internets to luckygunner for bringing facts to the brass/steel debate.

the brown bear clogging the gas tube was interesting

also interesting that it seems to show accelerated barrel deterioration with the bi-metal jackets

Yup, but the remaining question is what happens in normal shooting instead of super heating the hell out of them. It's still extremely interesting, a poorly maintained gun will have issues with a dirtier and harder projectile.

10,000 rounds of federal with zero malfunctions...with only cleaning the gun @ 5,000 rounds and tossing in some oil to the bolt carrier every once in a while....pshh...those finicky jam-o-matics show their colors again....

I like guns in general. This does kind've show how reliable an AR can be with minimal maintenance. People often mischaracterize AR's as unreliable and prone to malfunction. My comment was in reference to that.

    Yeah,

You go and post this after I was shooting up my federal. The only thing I found on the shelf was Tula. Gah.

Thanks for the info. Only think left is reloaded federal as reliable and who wants to reload 10,000 roads. ;p

Steel vs Brass accuracy test. I don't have 40k. So hey. One Magazine each.

AR15, Same everything, only difference is the ammo.

Iron sights. 30 yards. Was initial sighing in of new AR when the large variance of steel ammo was noted.
    Longer range with scope later.
