Hi guys. I'm thinking about changing out this gas block to be something other than a fixed front sight. Are these rivets on the gas block that I'd have to cut or pins that I should be able to punch out with a punch set?

I know the roll pin holding the gas tube will have to be punched out. I'm focusing on the pin/rivets that are holding the gas block on the barrel.

    Thanks!

Pins you should be able to remove, though they may be tighter than a mouses' ear. They only come out from one side.

If you want to swap it out, look carefully at the pins... they are taper pins most likely and driven in from the right to the left side, so removing them is from the left side drive to the right, but you can verify this by looking at the pin ends on each side, one should be bigger. Use a big hammer and don't be a wimp.. they will be tight.

Some use straight pins, but that is much less frequent.

Cutting down the gas block is a good option, as you retain the present mating of the pinned gas block and can still fit it under a handguard if you want.
