    Does one really apply a tourniquet to the upper body? I mean, I guess it's possible that torso wounds could be survived while the guy would otherwise bleed out from an artery hit in an arm. I guess.

    Morbidly interested in the entire sequence of events, and hope the resident is found to have acted in self defense, and within bounds on the use of lethal force. Even if he is, he'll be a lot poorer unless he's got SD insurance of some sort. On a happy note, they will have taken away his .40, so now he can buy a proper firearm.

    Seems like the fortay did it's job. Just sayin...

    In 2010, the Md Gen Assembly passed statute 5-808 which protects individuals & businesses from civil lawsuits, filed by the perps family, based on self defense of their homes/businesses.

    As for the criminal side of things, in prior home defense shootings the local states attorneys office has never decided to prosecute. If everything is on the up&up with this homeowner and the story remains similar to what has been released by the sheriff, I don't see much of a problem. Sucks if this was just a dumb drunk who did dumb drunk shit, but that's on him.
