Well, it was cold and miserable today, but as usual, the crowd was pleasant and made it fun and worthwhile. Because of the rain, mist and fog the targets were pretty tough to see, but everybody continues to improve. This match has really become the highlight of my month and it's all due to you guys. Everyone seems to "get" what this match is all about and it's more like hanging out with friends than a competition. Not that anyone doesn't shoot to win, but it's not the central focus. You guys are the best.

Now for the results. Along with the total match results, I'm posting everyone's performance per string this time, so you can see how it all adds up. I use the spreadsheet to make sure there are no errors in the math. On the left you will see the actual score sheet results and on the right are those numbers calculated. We had a couple of ties this month and I had to go to the number of X ring hits to determine the ranking. In one case both shooters had the same number of X ring hits, so I went to the number of 10 ring hits to determine the ranking. Enjoy.

    Good time

Bad weather, but great turn out with some good scores from the old war guns. Given iron military sights and overcast/rainy weather shooters did a creditable job staying on paper. Hopefully we can keep this rolling. A lot of fun just getting together and talking about the different rilfes. I seem to learn something new about the different rifles every shoot. Good job Rod and Jerry.

Looks like another good shoot, sorry I missed it! Can .22 Trainers can get in on the fun now too? :party29: Would my Mossberg 44 US b (not US Property marked) make the grade?

I don't see why the trainers shouldn't be included, but I do wonder if they should be in a class by themselves since they are rimfires. Recoil DOES matter.

Do you guys shoot from various positions? What is the range you are shooting at?

    Thanks for your time,

Nope, just from the bench with a front rest. This is definitely a "fun match". The distance is 100 yards and the regulations regarding sighting system modifications are pretty lax. As long as it's not sporterized (stock, barrel length etc) it'll probably be ok. Even if you put a rear peep sight on the rifle or a non issued scope you're good to go. There are only two classes, irons and optics.

I'm going to make it a point to come up there in the spring. Our club used to have bench shooting but now all they do is NRA High Power and my arthritis won't let me get into position anymore. I can still see the front sight of my M24/47 (at least I can now ) so I'm good to go.

Had a great time yet again. Weather was not great, but at least it mostly quit raining for scoring. I've really come to look forward to this match every month too. Added benefit of cold weather is more padding for the recoil.
