Any of you guys running one of these? I have been kicking around the idea of adding a heavy barrel .308 bolt to my collection. The rifle would see a lot of informal bench time primarily, but I can also see the possibility of using it as a bean field deer rifle on occasion. I own and prefer heavy barreled rifles generally where there isn't a lot of walking or rough terrain involved. This rifle weighs only 8 pounds with a 24 inch tube, so "medium heavy" seems like a better description and a good balance of a heavier tube without too much excess weight.

Above all else, I want rifles that are MOA accurate and preferably better with good hand loads that I can and would want to develop for it. And I want a good clean trigger. But I personally have zero experience with Browning rifles. I own older Remington 700s and a Savage accutrigger rifle. But I've long wondered if Browning is worth a look? I also want to keep my purchase price south of $1000 minus optics. What say you guys? Thanks!

No experience with the Browning Bolt's, but for the money, it's hard to go wrong with a Savage.

(Not impossible, but normally they're great shooters out of the box.)

Agreed! Good luck with that Model 10 you mentioned on the reloading side. You have some nice groups there! It's fun when you find out what it likes to eat!

I had an A bolt for awhile, it was a decent shooter and I really
Iked the short 60 degree bolt turn. But I really didn't see any thing better about it than it's less expensive competitor the Savage, and for the money it would be Savage or bust, then spend what you saved on optics.

Not bad for a questionable optic and an average shooter on a cold day. :)

I'd looked at Browning because they offer lefty models, but honestly, it's really hard to beat the bang for buck that Savage offers.

Brownings are nice rifles I ve never shot their heavy barrel model but we have 3 Brownings in 300wsm with boss systems all 3 shoot 5shot groups .50 MOA @ 100yds which is crazy out of a sportser style rifle. You can really tweak things with the boss systems plus hand loads. Browning heavy barrel ya I'm jealous.
