All these questions were a water of time. "What left wing causes have you taken? What has you done for social justice?

What about property rights. What about 2a. What about jerymandering.

Now Frosh is bragging about suing VW. Again a federal issue. And, I own a diesel VW.

So here was my question for both candidates.

Do you believe that law enforcement agencies within the state have the responsibility to cooperate with federal agencies to ensure that residents of maryland have the legal right to live and work in our state?

What would you do as attorney general to comply with federal immigration law?

I guess it was deemed too controversial.

    It’s a shame.

My rough transcription. Lots of paraphrasing.
    AG Debate
    Started at 6:30 sharp

Wolf is former state and fed prosecutor.
    Criminal and civil litigation.
Army soldier and vet who joined at 40 after 9/11. Deployed to Afghanistan

Focused on Baltimore right off the bat. Murders, opioids, human trafficking, and gang violence. Attacks Frosh for going after Feds instead of here for public safety. Attacks partisanship. Wants a focus on public safety. Notes FOP support. Touts support across many agencies. Notes that he enjoys answering to the people.

    Frosh
Ran for AG 4 years ago saying he wanted to be the people’s lawyer. Claims that he’s protecting Marylanders. Claims recovering millions of dollars from large companies. Claims making public safety a priority. Says he has wide collaborative relations with various agencies. Gone after those abusing or breaking laws when it comes to senior living. Addressed racial profiling. Worked on healthcare and prosecuting drug traffickers and pharmaceutical companies. Touts going to court against the Trump administration. Stopping 3D guns and protecting the affordable care act. Touts his record of supporting gun safety and attacks Wolf for his wanting of buying assault weapons and supporting Trump and Sessions.

Live feed went down. Wolf has no problem doing the intro again. Frosh didn’t see the point in repeating. 5 minutes again.
Wolf starts with same intro he gave before except mentions that he’s still in the Army and is working on promotion. Touts his running into the fight. Mentions battle he was in in Afghanistan. Mentions baltimore violence and opioids agains. Mentions trafficking and gangs. Says opponent is more focused on national politics. Says you need to cast politics aside when top LEO. Says Frosh should have gone on TV to debate as “people’s lawyer.”

Frosh jokingly reintroduces himself. Says the office is a valuable tool for protecting Marylanders. Touts consumer protections against various large companies. Says his office has made public safety a priority. Touts collaboration with different state local and federal agencies. Says his office has had an outsized impact. Tackled injustice of racial profiling. Talks about helping healthcare patients with insurance negotiations. Prosecutes drug trafficker and pill mill operators. Says pharmaceutical companies contribute to problem. Mentions 3D gun blueprints. Mentions offshore drilling and environmental protections.

Proudly mentions the assault weapons ban and attacks Wolf for wanting one and complaining about how long the background check took.

Promises to protect Marylanders. Says he’ll equally enforce our laws.

    1st question about opioid epidemic.
Frosh starts. Saying he’s arresting the people selling the drugs. Indicted gangs selling fentanyl and pill mills. Supported legislation to go after companies. Says he’s a part of a multi state lawsuit against many opioid manufacturers. Says one companies was pushing a cancer drug for all sorts of unrelated illnesses. Essentially blackmailing doctors who weren’t pushing it. Says he seeks to pull licenses from doctors who are a threat. Wants this treated as a public health issue.

    Wolf
Over 2000 deaths last year. Wolf says governor should sue the pharmaceutical companies. Says Frosh claimed he didn’t have resources at the time. Says other attorneys would have done the investigation, but Frosh has been inactive. Talks about pill mill doctor. Had the doctor plead down instead of a full prosecution. Says he should have made an example of him. Says Frosh should be more engaged tHan he is. Says priority should be on going after providers, not users and abusers. Says the only time the AG office only went to legislature for resources was to sue the trump admin.

Frosh refutes and says he did and Hogan said no. Says his office didn’t go after pill mill as hard because it was their first case and the defendant was an old man. Claimed 5 years was the guideline.

Next question for Wolf. Gun Violence.
Says he’d do more as AG. Gotta work with US attorney office. Blames baltimore for pleading with violent offenders. Mentions how short sentences are and that the Feds have more tools to keep them off the street. Seek additional authority to prosecute. Stays on baltimore. Says the focus needs to be here. Mentions how much time he’s spent in town and the meetings he’s had. Says Frosh is distant. Says Frosh isn’t utilizing his tools effectively.

Frosh counters with nothin about gun safety. Frosh touts his legislative background. Mentions the NRA. Says Wolf is a Second Amendment guy and shouldn’t be AG (Frosh isn’t?). Frosh then goes to drug related gun violence. Says his office goes after denials for gun purchases. Says he’s gotten a lot of mandatory sentences from gang crime.

    Wolf
Mentions that Frosh pleads out instead of seeking convictions. Straw purchasers are untouched. Mentions the mandatory only matters if gun was used. Mentions bail reform and how people are being released prematurely because of it.

    Frosh. Civil rights. What priorities?
First AG to roll out guidelines that prevent profiling based on various identity. Says gone out of the way to stand up for people of all communities. Mentions marriage equality. Says Supreme Court noted the work in Obergefell. Says his office has made sure all rape kits be maintained and properly used. Says their recommendations were used by the legislature. Says stands up for women’s rights. Mentions goin after trump administration in regard to contraception.

Wolf starts with mentioning historically black college. Mentions case in regard to a civil rights case and says Frosh has worked against the college in this case. Says Frosh preoccupied with federal issues. Frosh pins blame on Governor. No excuse for not doing the job he said he’d do. Once again mentions Frosh’s bail reform. Says more people are in jail that shouldn’t be. Mentions right to vote and says Frosh is in favor of gerrymandering.

Frosh says he’s tried to settle HBCU cases. Says Hogan writes the checks. Claims he’s tried to settle those suits but cannot because of Hogan. Defends his bail reform and how it was affecting very low level criminals unfairly. Says dangerous people are being held without bailed.

    Criminal justice reform - Wolf
Starts with saying prosecution must seek to convict for mandatory minimum sentences for violent offenders. Once again goes after Frosh for federal issues. Says Frosh hasn’t mentioned anything about local murders and deaths in his social media. Back to mms. Claims Frosh fought against blocking them and Jessica’s law. Says Frosh skipped the hearing. Says he cares more about the criminals than the victims.

Frosh says Wolf is 25 years behind the times. Frosh mentions mass incarceration. Frosh says he heard plenty of those mms bills but didn’t like them. Says Jessica’s law was redundant. Says his office fights crime like no other. First office with task forces for gang and traffickers (me paraphrasing). Says he does get indictments. Says first to prosecute pill mills. Says very aggressive against violent offenders and drug offenders. Says they’ve partnered with various agencies.

    Wolf rebuts
Says AG must work with legislature. Says released offenders must be monitored. Says gun offenders are being let back out. Says Frosh desk drawered a lot of bills. Asks why he (wolf) has law enforcement endorsements and he (Frosh) doesn’t. Why aren’t they if you were doing your job right?

First audience question about sexual assault. How will you protect women?

Frosh rebuts by saying Schellenberger endorsed him — not wolf. Says he converted him over mms. Says he has reformed MD law in regard to sexual assault. Mentions rape kits not being used prior to his taking office. Says hospital personnel should be trained in how to handle assault victims. Says he counsels all universities on title 9 guidelines to balance things fairly between both sides.

    Wolf
Schellenberger support as recent as 2 months. FocuSed on child abuse, trafficking, child pornography, and sexual assault as a prosecutor. Mentions how Common trafficking is here. Attacks Frosh for not going after gangs. Talks about sexual assault in the church. Mentions that Frosh gave no response to those affected in MD. Says victims came to him instead. Says Frosh has only given appearance of working.

    Frosh rebuttal
Compares Wolf to Trump in regard to hyperbole. Says he is investigating and looking for victims and work inside the church. Says Wolf misrepresents his endorsements. Frosh back to sexual assault. Talks about a workplace rape. Says lawyer of defendant used ICE to blackmail victims husband. Frosh indicted that lawyer and interpreter.

Singles greatest threat to Maryland that you can mitigate?

    Wolf
Opioids and right behind that Murders in Baltimore. Says you need to be in the communities to understand the issues. Mentions Frosh again wanting to make everything about Washington. Wants to focus on what’s happening in MD because that’s what matters. Says it’s not hard to bring a lawsuit against the opioid manufactures. Says we’re short of cash on treatment centers. Says the job isn’t being done and violence is fueled by drug war. Says should avoid plea deals. Need to make examples of offenders. Says he’ll focus on public safety and not on politics.

Says Wolf has been working for alcohol lobby. Says the firm fought against drunk driving laws and Noah’s law. Says he (Frosh) has been working on fighting crime and the opioid epidemic. Says we will be poised to go after the industry alone if need be. Says we need to work outside of Maryland. Says his office gets the toughest sentence they can get. Mentions prosecuting state prison corruption case. Mentions other gangs and a carjacking case.

    Wolf
Been a federal and state prosecutor. Once again mentions mms and attacks Frosh for going after left wing causes. Says he’s served the question. Attacks Frosh for not fighting in Vietnam. Says he’s been a business manager. Says Frosh website doesn’t have meaningful data on it. Says he was a strong supporter of accountability for regulation in regard to alcohol.

Last question is about environmental issues.

    Frosh
Environmental issues have been a top priority in his career. Touts his legislative initiatives. As AG mentions going after oil companies for pollutants. Brought suit against VW over emissions violations and says how much money he got back for consumers and the state. Fighting against the Feds for offshore drilling. Says EPA has refused to enforce Obama era regulations and has brought suit with other states. Gone after other states for dirty air.

    Wolf
Says not much difference about he and Frosh’s concern for environmental health. Says biggest threat to the bay is Conowingo dam pollution and says Frosh hasn’t gone after PA and NY. Against offshore drilling. Says Florida got the Feds to stop. Asks why we haven’t? Says there are costs to suing the government every day and attacks Frosh for his other lawsuits (emoluments, etc...). Perhaps if you weren’t always suing you’d have more cooperation and help from the Feds.

    Frosh
Dead wrong about Conowingo dam. Says it’s not a worse contributor to pollution than air issues and agricultural runoff. Says Hogan would negotiate with other states and says he cannot sue without his authorization. Says you can find info on their website. Says the notion is silly nothing is there. Says Ryan Zinke and Donald trump are crazy for wanting offshore drilling.

    Closing statements
    Frosh
Thanks crowd. Starts by mentioning his Father’s defense of an accused communist. Mentions Roy Cohn is a mentor of Donald Trump. Says his father fought and is a champion of civil rights in Montgomery county. Talks about his father’s commitment to justice inited his interest in public service. Says he worked hard to make Maryland safer. Keep bad guys in jail. Mentions laws he wrote — environmental and gun legislation. Sponsored laws that protected kids and been behind marriage equality. Says he’s spent 4 years defending Marylanders. Says he has engaged with the trump administration. Talks about the affordable care act. Talks about trump and sessions will undermine aca. Says Wolf has only supported the alcohol industry. Says he’s confused about the role of the AG. Can only see things as a prosecutor. Says cannot understand the healthcare, senior and environmental issues. Asks if he will support 3D printed gun data and if he will fight the NRA. Says he will continue to fight for justice.

    Wolf
MD needs an AG who focuses on the problems here. Says he has no loyalty to anyone other than MD in a non-partisan way. Asks where the priority should be. Says Frosh has done a good job on consumer protection. Says focus should be on public safety here. Says legal claims have not been good. Says he doesn’t care about Trump. Wants to work with Hogan and our state. Says no other AG has politicized the office like Frosh has. Mentions that he has the support of lost states Attorneys. Mentions again the FOP and how they support him. Says Frosh defends gerrymandering. Admitted not suing opioid companies. Refused to defend the peace cross at first. He refused to settle HBCU issues. Says he won’t go after other states over Conowingo. Jokes about he and Frosh both liking The Grateful Dead. Says Frosh is more focused on protecting criminals and not victims. Dings him for not serving. Says he admits not focusing on MD.
