    Retired Navy - not a complete virgin concerning handguns. Going through the paperwork now and anticipate first purchase which will probably be a 9MM in the next few weeks. Still in the process of doing my homework. Tried out a few rentals at Freestate. Wife will probably get a .22 to start (SR22) and possibly move into something bigger later. She hated the 9MM..lol

    Many of the people who take my NRA Basic Pistol Class and the MD HQL class like the SR22.

    I have found it a solid pistol and very forgiving to a new pistol shooter. For sure it is a lot easier to clean and re-assemble than a Ruger Mark II/III.

    You may also want to consider the SIG Mosquito. It is a bit finicky about ammo (CCI or better) but again, a great .22 handgun over all.
