Just found it in my closet now, my dad's old Iver Johnson model 55. Fairly certain this is C&R.

    9 shot .22 double action

Once you can shoot those old 22's well in double action, every other double action becomes very easy to control. Those old 12 lb. triggers prepare you for anything. I've got an Iver Johnson, a couple H&R's, and a Hi Standard I like to practice with before going to my modern 357's.

Just picked up tonight from SCSG. 1916 Colt 1903
Finally got an affordable one. @ $450.
Purchased in the first hours of the HoCo show. Not a perfect specimen but some slight freckling and scratches.

That looks like a nice solid 1903 Model M. Some pits & warts but doesn't look abused or worn out.
Correct grips for that year which is also a good sign it wasn't messed with (as is the clean ends of the firing pin retaining pin).
Hopefully the bore is clean and sharp, that seems to be one of the weak spots of the earlier guns - pitting & worn rifling.
For the price you can't go wrong I don't think.

Bore is good but not great. Rifling is strong but it's not pitted like a Mosin bore at least.

Yes, I fell Tokarev pulled some inspiration from this design.

The use of the safety lever as the slide lock is clever. Don't know if this was an original thought by Browning

You'll see that same dual-use of safety lever on the Browning-designed Hi Power.
On the Colt 1903 its a little useless as it doesn't help with field stripping, unlike the larger BROWNING 1903 / Husvarna 1907

The Colt 1903 doesn't have a true slide stop activated by the empty mag, while the BHP and Browning 1903/1907 use a separate slide stop.

Got this last Wednesday from Classic. I switched the grips with a set I already had. Other than that it was in really good shape. It came packed in cosmoline and I had to do a total disassembly. It has an "0" stamp which I take to mean it is a 1944 year of manufacture. I'm assuming that it was a German issue and a Soviet capture. Since neither country supposedly put any additional markings on it beyond what the Spanish did it is hard to prove other than most made during the war years went straight to Germany.

Only about 20k went to the Germans; those serial numbers are well-documented.
The first batch of 4000 (1942) were unmarked, but most of the rest have a WaA251 or WaAD20 on the right rear frame tang.
An unscrupulous importer added fake WaA251 to a bunch of the Bulgarian contract guns, which are outside the German S/N ranges so have to be careful if paying a premium that the German pistols command.

The last batch were delivered to Germany in June of 1944, chances are yours is one of the undelivered contract pistols that missed the boat so to speak.
S/N 256251-258000 and 260001-260250 (Lot 20, 2000 pistols). Or it could be a pistol that was destined for other sales.

Thanks for the info. That's more than I could find on line and in the books I have on hand. Irregardless, I feel that it is a good addition to my collection. I enjoy learning as I go.

Pro Tip, just in case: DON'T DRY FIRE A STAR MODEL A or B !!
    (it'll shatter the firing pin)
They are nice pistols... if you have feed / jam issues try steel case ammo.

    Just to add my experiance
    1) The trigger on both mine and my dad's was really crisp and light, great for the range
    2) I used white out on the front sight for target shooting
    3) If your standard mag jams and you can't shoot steel cased ammo at your range, try just loading 5 at a time.
    4) Some people have had success tuning the lips. I did not try.
    5) My reproduction mag works just fine, (probably cause the lips are designed better).

My star B is on the top of my range C&R guns

Just came home with this, many thanks to the guys at Pasadena Pawn and Gun for working with me on a fair trade!

Super late WWII Japanese Type 99 "Concentric Circle" marked, with the stamped CC instead of the standard chrysanthemum. It's not clear what these rifles were intended for as Japanese records were lost to the War, but there are several theories that have been floating around for years, a common (but maybe wishful thinking) one being that they were Kempetai (secret police) issue. Whatever they were intended for, they are a unique Arisaka variation and can be tough to find as there weren't a ton of them made.

This one is from Kokura arsenal in the correct CC serial range, and going by the features likely dates to the very very end of the war. Given that it lacks dust cover grooves on the receiver, it probably was made around the very end, or even after, the 25th series (the last numbered series that Kokura made before the war ended). It's extremely crude as seen by the tool marks visible on the receiver. All matching numbers too which is a big plus

Finally filled a hole I wasn't expecting to in my collection today: a 03A3. Got an excellent example with a pristine bore and 3-43 barrel stamp. All matching as far as I can tell and mechanically sound. Now I just need some appropriately powered ammo and a range.

I've been on an Argentine kick lately.
Got an 1891 rifle. Besides not having a crest, it's extremely nice. The pics don't do it justice at all. It's probably 90% or better condition. All matching, no cleaning rod. I feel like I got a great deal on this one for $350

Also got a 1909 rifle, this one is all matching with crest, even has a matching cleaning rod. It's not nearly as nice, has plenty of bluing wear. Thanks to Andy for pointing this one out to me! This one was $395 shipped.

Both have great bores. Haven't shot either one yet, but have some reloads ready to go.

I also have a 1891 Calvary Carbine I think I posted a couple months ago. It's a mixmaster with a shot out bore. Shame, because I love it. I'll have to get a nicer one eventually.

This was a snag from late last year, MAS49/56 (correction brain freeze last night) with most of the factory accessories. Been on my list for a while and yes its still in 7.5 French.
