Just got a message today from E. Arthur Brown company. They have several discontinued TC barrels available and what I believe to be at a discounted price.

They're heavy, only hold one round, and recoil is severe with real rifle rounds.

The last bit is what caused a gun shop owner that I know to sell his. The protruding bit on the trigger guard would occasionally whack into his knuckles, and eventually, his knuckles had had enough.

    Go for it, man!
But be ready to be wanting more barrels.
I'v had three different collections of them over the years.
Presently own 41 barrels and have started making my own furniture for them.

The bad news is they are like potato chips you can't have just one. First you start adding barrels. Then you add some stocks. Then another frame so you can have a dedicated handgun and a designated carbine. Then add an Encore for more caliber selections.

They are the most fun guns I own!

And Yes I have a .45-70 pistol barrel and when you touch that off everyone looks. It is my Manly Handgun.

This is the best lists of caliber choices I have found for Contender and Encore just to give you some ideas.

    Contender

    Encore (scroll down for frames)

And if you are into Evil Black Rifles Choate can fix you up.

They can also be used for muzzle loading season with a barrel change.

    Where they send me.
Only decision I think is Contender vs Encore. I'm a Contender guy as I think the Encore is too beefy/heavy.

Great, fun platform. I know of few if any downsides to them for what they are.

Nothing bad yet. I'm still waiting for something to discourage me from buying one.
Shot one in .44 mag many years ago (friend’s father’s pistol), not fun. Very light gun, full power loads, HUGE recoil. The big metal hook under the trigger snagged us each 3 or 4 times each. We were done, shot my Taurus M44 44 mag with ported barrel, heavy gun very little recoil, the rest of the range trip. Never looked back at that TC, only at the painful bruise on my support hand/knuckles (didn’t kick up as much as it did straight back). Tore a few sandbags to sh*t too. That hook is just dumb.

Is this bad enough for you?
