Used Gun shops baltimore

Im new to the forum and relatively new to shotguns. Im looking to buy my first shotgun. Im on a tight budget so im going to go used and most likely go with the Remington 870. Ive heard to many good things about them as first shotguns and the price is right.

Im looking for some advice on shops around baltimore, towson area or within a 20mile or so radius. Any good shops that sell used guns at good prices. Shops with staff that are helpful and friendly unlike many shops ive been in is a plus.

Thanks for you help in advance, and any other advice is more than welcome as well.

The 870 is a great gun and is well suited for a variety of purposes. It's the "jack of all trades, master of none" gun.

you may want to post at WTB section, someone might be selling a used 870 in your price range. exactly what are you looking for? bbl lenght? HD? Trap/skeet? huntin?

I bought a Mossberg 500 couple of years ago at the Timonium gun show for $ 80. I brought a friend with me and he said it looked like it hadn't had many rounds through it.

yea to bad i missed the timonium gun show i live within walking distance. the next ones not till october i think. Ive heard people get great deals there though.

Ill be buying my first shotgun so im definitely not set on any one gun. But i want a longer bbl that 18.5" from everything ive read thats mainly HD. I just said the 870 cause it seems a consensus as a reliable inexpensive all around great first gun. Ive been reading for weeks now.

But im always open to ideas and suggestions as most everyone on here has more experience and knowledge. Im here to learn.

I don't know how much you intend to shoot, but you can buy a Mossberg 500 combo for a pretty decent price on Gunbroker sometimes. I got my 500 with a 18" home defnese barrel and a a 28" barrel with fixed choke, but they also have ones with removable chokes in the combo barrels. Just look for Mossberg Combo on Gunbroker, see what you like, find a FFL local that'll do the transfer, and bid, win, send money order, and a few days later you got a nice shotgun. An 870 is great as well, but I prefferred the usability of the 500, as well as the cost savings.

Dicks up in Hunt Valley also has severla shotguns for some good prices, so check there. You can walk out with something the same day. They have Mossbergs, Remingtons, and Pardner Protectors fairly cheap.

Im one of those that prefers to see something before i buy. Im def gonna check out the mossbergs though. And i want nothing to do with dicks sporting goods. i went up there a couple weeks ago to look i was pretty much outright ignored by the guy behind the counter. In the middle of asking him a question he walked away never came back. I went back a couple days later figuring i got a bad guy. Almost the same thing happened except this time a manager was there as well. One employee one manager acted like i didnt exist. I wont give a place like that my money. Id rather spend a little bit more than reward poor customer service!

Used 870's are not much cheaper than new usually. You won't go wrong with an 870 or a 500. I prefer the 870 though.
