Living In A Bizarro World
Two new Dan Wesson 1911s. The Silverback is beautiful and classy, which I expected it to be. The Specialist in Distressed Duty finish is awesome looking. It’s my first 1911 with a rail. The Distressed finish is polarizing, as some love it and others think it’s for “posers” who want their 1911 to look like it has seen Battle. To the haters, I don’t care. I actually got this finish because I’m anal and thought I wouldn’t care about getting marks on a “Battleworn” finish, even a slight idiot scratch. No such luck. The finish is pewter/bronzish-black that is beautiful. I’ll be anal with this weapon too.
The fit and finish on these Dan Wesson’s are on par with my Nighthawk and my friend’s Wilson Combat. I know the Nighthawk and Wilson involve a lot more hand craftsmanship by master gunsmiths and thus the added expense, but these DW’s are really impressive.
Both triggers are excellent. The Silverback has a lighter trigger. The Specialist’s trigger is a little heavier, but that is to be expected in a “Duty” gun . Both break very crisply.
