Looking at two visually similar .22LR rounds- the bullet weight of a plated hollow point is 36 grains and the weight of a plated round nose is 40 grains. Makes sense, the hollow point weighs less than the round nose.
Looking at two visually similar 9mm rounds- Winchester 9mm FMJ weighs 115 grains but Winchester 9mm JHP weighs 147 grains. Does not compute, it seems that the hollow point (less lead?) should weigh less than the round nose.
Am I not comparing apples to apples? Thanks for any insight!
