Just read through it very quickly but I'm going to need somebody to translate, lol. I'll wait for someone smarter than me.

    Baseline:

They removed the LQL, waiting period, 1 firearm per month.

They left in the background check compelled through an FFL on all transfers, including loans, via NICS. I am still conferring with others for what they think the impacts will be based on these changes.

I doubt I am smarter than you, but it looks like it means no more private sales, but the Long Gun Qualification License is gone. Rack's source was right.

Transfers to "immediate family" without going through an FFL are allowed.

LGQL gone, registration gone, looks just like just nics check at an FFL for a private transfer, how/if that can work.

Federal law allows the NICS check on a voluntary basis. Now, if this passes Maryland law will compel everybody to go through a NICS check. Pretty much, no more private sales.

I read through the exceptions and they seem reasonable. I can loan a gun to a buddy in the blind, etc. I can let somebody shoot my guns in my presence. What I cannot do is allow them to take them home with them.

I read that LE is exempted.

Maybe sanctuary counties with sheriffs can deputize individuals temporarily so that the transfer doesn't need to go through a dealer?

This is still a shit sandwich. Not being able to loan a gun to a friend is moronic.

LE should never be exempted from any gun laws. More nonsense from the MGA.

LE is always exempt. I hear the residents of Baltimore are big fans of LE.

I truly never understand why. Duty weapons are not private property of the officer. Why would they be above the law otherwise? Sorry lawmen. You should not get a carve out.

Mike, thank you a bunch for getting this up so fast. The bill as it is, is the least painful that it could have been from its original form. Used guns are going to cost more now and people will have to go through the hassle of meeting with an FFL to complete the transfer.

Exactly. None of this is reasonable. None of this is acceptable. They only thing that's reasonable and acceptable is for the Government to keep their boots off of our throats, their hands off of our wallets, and their laws away from our unalienable rights.

The entire issue with the loaning is that some people were loaning guns to criminals. Also another way to complete a straw purchase under the guise of a loan. There are a lot of exemptions. Friends will have to buy their own guns, and really see what life is like for a gun owner in Maryland. When you loan them yours, they do not have to jump through all the hoops that is Maryland. Maybe some more people will wise up when they cannot just borrow a gun from you or me when they need it.

Unless I am totally dumb, these 2 Hb's seriously suck and to prove our Lawmakers are such total BS, I am watching Fox News and the story of how a KILLER who is an ILLEGAL was not notified to ICE to be deported due to Sanctuary San Jose crap where the county STAMP proves SAN JOSE failed to report to ICE. Now Snowflake San Jose blames ICE for the crime. BULLcrap, he was free to roam the streets and kill an innocent woman in San Jose California because of SANCTUARY LAWS SAN JOSE chooses to not report these animals to ICE Just heard this kind of crap has been going on over 7 years that SJ is not cooperating with ICE.

Depends on whether you are for or against keeping firearms out of the hands of mentally ill people.

You want Adam Lanza, Nikolas Cruz, Eric Harris, Dylan Klebold, etc. buying firearms off of yard sale tables? Granted, a NICS check probably would not have stopped them from buying guns though because there was nothing in NICS that would have showed they were mentally deranged. The Arizona theater shooter might have been stopped had NICS been updated with his psychiatric record.

Maybe we should work on shoring up NICS for mental disorders and not worrying about convicts that roam among us as free people.
